I think the PS3 has sold a lot more than what the different sites are claiming because the NASDAQ numbers that count all sales including the ones that other sources don't use show the PS3 sales higher than reported by other sites.

but if it is true, then Sony knows theyre going to need that many
well as of june, npd said the PS3 sold (not shipped) approximately 4.5 million.... so now they are probably up to around 6 or so million actually sold.... not too shabby.... probably why all the companies that took away games are putting them back on the PS3 (katamari, eternal sonata, etc) they jumped the gun and thought it wouldn't sell...

If you are right, why did Sony lower the price?
To make it more accessible to consumers and get a wider install base as its rival the $250 Wii?
