First off 1up and egm who gave lair really low scores, are one in the same. SO I can't really trust these guys till I see Ign and gamespot score it myself.fistoflight
Yes, they are the same guys. The EGM review of the game seemed petty to me, personally. They complained about the controls in a way that sounded like they didn't bother actually learning them.

especially when they almost gave Sonic an 8.
Yea he was like "oh it looks like something out of LoTR" But how is that a bad thing? Shouldn't it resemble it if its the same genre? Yea they bashed the hell out of it. But it only seems like the opinion of a hater.WongB
If lair gets a good score from everywhere else they need to be fired... Whats wrong with lotr? My god that was a great book, a great movie, and some of the games were awesome...
No surprise. I didn't see much beyond the graphics. The ground-based gameplay looked waaaay out of balance, sky-based gameplay seemed random and redundant, and the announcement of SIXAXIS-only controls was insult to injury.
oh well.
ill trust ign's score the most. if it gets under an 8 from them then ill think about a rentRobotron92yeah same here
point of this post. Playmag gave it a 9 and Gametrailer user score was 9.

I've said it before and i'll keep saying it. 1up and egm sucks major ****s. Bias pieces of crap. their web design is horrible.
I'm not sayin lair is gonna be good, even above an 8. but to trust 1up on a review, not even gonna bother.
Gokuja
I'm with ya. I stoped trusting them when they said the FF7 remake was confirmed after squeenix even said it wasn't.

That is becasue DAN DAN FAN FAN SHU SHU is an 360 Fanboy he has even admitted this in on the podcasts that there is no reason to buy a PS3 when he has his 360... and this is the guy reviewing games for us...hell he is the editorso there you go...

IMO I think they are anti ps3... thats all I'm gonna say about them for now...
Despite not caring too much for the opinions of those working at 1UP I think there might be some issues with the fact that the game is controlled via the sixaxis... I really feel the game wont control very well without spending a great deal of time getting used to the motion controls and thats why I think it will get lower scores. All they needed to do was allow for analog sticks to be used (an option would be nice) and the game would have been golden but since the announcement of sixaxis only I have had my doubts.
I think it will get around a 7-7.5 on both IGN and gamespot.

Yep if LOTR's is wrong then I dont want to be write.whats wrong with the six axis. I have one of the first unfixed controllers yet i am fully capable of winning online motorstorm races using sixasis fully. its not that hard to use. People just go crazy with the movement like they did with the wii. All you have to do is slightly turn it nothing more than that.
besides im sure they could have a sensitivity control for the sixaxis that would help alot for people who cant grasp the six axis

I agree, I think SIXAXIS is awesome. Motorstorm played so well, it took me a good hour to get used to it, but once I got it, I never really want to play another racer without it. I think LAIR will be great. If you take the time to learn the functions, I bet one will be able to do so much more with all the available buttons. This is a weird example, but I remember when I first started playing MGS2. I was so overwhelmed by all the moves, such as holding people up and the other new moves, I thought I would not get it, but that is now one of my favorite games and controls very very well. I'm hoping the best for LAIR.

4 real. gamepro gave it a average rating and play hmmmm gave it a 10 egm gets to serious about stuff i see gamespot giving it a 8.0;8.5 tops

Its funny how the guy is like "WHERE IS THE RADAR???"
He wants a dragon to be equiped with a Magical Crystal Ball radar or something lol. What a fool. I think the guy doesn't like LoTR b/c he bashes that stuff too. A fantasy hater reviewing a fantasy game...just great huh.

Um it's definitely not 2 3rds of the way thru...u sure they even "reviewed" it in this podcast...? All they talk is about bioshock at 2/3s...either u got ur math wrong, or something fishy is goin on *glares at u*

***NEWS ALERT***.
1up = EGM = gamespot.
All 3 are owned by CNET. (EGM is publshed by Ziff-Davis; Ziff-Davis is owned by CNET). So expect a low review of Lair from gamespot (that is if gamespot follows the company line).

Like I just mentioned 1up = EGM = Gamespot (see previous post for more detail). They all (esp gamespot and EGM) a certain bias (u know which way) in this next-gen 'war'.
But CNET itself (the parent company of 1up, EGM and Gamespot) seems pretty fair towards the ps3. Its only the gaming site/magazine subsidaries that seem to show anti-ps3 bias.

Yes, but a user score means squat since half those users haven't even played the game!

Totally untrue. EGM and gamespot are independant of one another. EGM editors used to post reviews on Gamespot. The following review was posted by James Mielke (a former EGM editor and current 1up editor).
http://www.gamespot.com/ps/adventure/metalgearsolidintegral/review.html
Even though this review is ancient, it proves that EGM and GS are NOT independant of one another.
Another EGM editor posting a review on GS (the editor is Crispin Boyer):
http://www.gamespot.com/ps/rpg/sagafrontier/review.html
Again, the review is old but gamespot and EGM are definately ***NOT*** independant of one another. To say EGM doesn't influence GS or vice versa is very foolish and very naive.

umm like you said but that was a an old post... the reviewers on egm have stayed off gamespot for quite some time... you gotta realize that is from a while ago and they USED to post on gamespot but they don't anymore. Given the fact that they are not completely independent of each other you gotta look at the scores that each site give for some games... They are completely different scores and opinions... Just because you found one connection doesn't mean it will affect another one...
However, I will give you some credit on it. Egm and ign may have influence over gamespot but I don't think they will imo.

They mentioned Lair and it covers the game abit. It gets the crap bashed out of it.No. Garnet Lee (DORK) is on that podcast. He's part of the NOOBS that gave Lair a 5.5. Forget him! He sucks!
