2.42..Interesting to Note.

Recently i remember when the previous update came out
in a thread i read that someone suggested being able to
have an option that enables you to shut down the ps3
once you have finished the update.

Thus being able to set it to download and just go to sleep.

Before downloading 2.42 (which is currently in the process)
i noticed a little square i could tick that would shut down
the ps3 once the download is finished.

I just thought i would share,
and think it's rather ironic
that i read it some where and
then the next update it happens.

That feature came with 2.40BenderUnit22

No problems. Honestly, I don't see why people are so paranoid about updating their FW.

2.42 is fixing a load of back end stuff anyway, apparently it's all to do with Blu-Ray and PS3 game playback. Or so I heard.

That feature was in the 2.40 update, I never choose this feature because the PS3 will do a restart once the update is downloaded and then I have my system set to where if there is nothing happening in the XMB it will start the folding project after a few minutes of just sitting. The 2.42 update did stream line the XMB somewhat, now the demos are in a single file under the game tab instead of just being part of the tab like before.

I noticed that when I did the 2.41 update, so I don't think it was due to the new one

IT couldn't possibly come with this latest update because you haven't even installed it yet. IF the feature was part of the NEW update, it wouldn't be available until after you've already downloaded and installed the update.

So clearly it is a feature you've already previously installed.
