Buy the little one then upgrade if required down the road. Even if you bought a 500gb drive the same day as your 120gb ps3, your paying the same price. :P

The only 1TB 2.5" SATA drive I'm familiar with doesn't even fit in the PS3 and there's no way you could get it for 50 bucks....so either you're a liar, or you got a 1 TB external drive. That is not anupgrade, it's just an addition.
No difference at all in the UK, the 250GB PS3 has been out for over 2 weeks, I have one and it isn't even fitted with a 250GB HDD, its a 232GB HDD and you have access to 205GB

I wanted to get just the 120 gb, but target only had the 250. I was in NH for a short time, so I did not have time to check other stores. I knew that I could get 10% off on target if I open a target card, so I got the 250 gb, plus cables. I was going to get an extra joystick, but because I had to pay an extra 50 for the 250 gb, I just got the cables. I came here to ask the same question. It sucks, I was hopping the 250 had something more then just a larger hdd. Now I gotta think about which blue ray movies to get for cheap if I can. The library near where I live has a great selection of PS3 games, so I'll wait a while before I think of getting any games. I was at a friends house the other day, and he could not play any videos on the nbc website. Is it anywhere around this?

Thats nothing to do with the PS3, thats just the way hard discs work...plus the OS takes up a small amount of space... so moral of the story...stop whining!!! I've only got an 80 gig so 205 is way more space than i have :)
