Alright so for the past week or so I've been stuck in this decision. I'm really bad at making decisions, and without the forum's help, I might not make a purchase for several months. I really do appreciate any advice anyone gives me. I know

To start things off, I've been an on and off sort of handheld gamer over time. I stuck with the Game Boy through thick and thin all the way up from the Pocket to the current "phat" DS that I own now. I played the DS for awhile, but then got more into the 360 and online MMOs. At E3, the announcement of Golden Sun DS really fueled my interest again and I realized how many great games were on the DS...AND PSP.

My question is: Should I upgrade my "phat" DS to a DSi for $120 (GameStop has a promotion where you can trade in the "phat" one for $50 towards a DSi), get a PSP for $170 (or an entertainment pack), or should I just keep my old DS and focus on the games. I've got some spending money, so I'll be doing at least one of the three.

Games are really the focus here, by the way. Although I like the idea of the DSi's camera thing and the PSP's massive multimedia functionality, I already own an iPod and use that for my music and movies. I'm interested in games like Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, the World Ends With You (RPGs) and New Super Mario Bros, Mario & Lugi: Partners in Time, and Trauma Center (platformers, quirky little niche titles, action, etc.) I'm also really wanting to get Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Golden Sun DS when they come out. For the PSP, games like Daxter, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters, and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII (this especially) interest me. I also would love to play Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep and Dissidia: Final Fantasy when they come out.

So what's better, an upgrade to my DS, a purchase of a PSP, or just buy games for the DS? (I'm not interested in the PSP Go either, so don't suggest to wait til that comes out)

If you're really into RPG genre, you'd better stick with DS. As PSP is not even in the same league when it comes to RPGs. The only decent RPGs I have played on PSP are Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII and Tales of Eternia and believe me I have tried many. I might try Crimson Gem Saga as well, which seems like a good RPG. DS has much better RPGs that's for sure.

That being said, PSP has many many great games in other categories and even more are coming. So, if you mainly play RPGs, stick with DS and if you're looking for different genres, get the PSP.

You should not upgrade to the DSi because it wont get you better games, if you are a gamer then just concentrate on buying games, now whether you should buy a PSP then yes because lately the PSP gets lots of love from the devs, that means there are many games to look forward to.

Get the PSP-3000 so you can expand the number of games you can play, plus you're not missing out THAT much with just having the DS phat. At the most, you're just losing the better screen and it being a bit more portable.

Well this is a PSP Fourm so most or eveyone will say get a PSP. I would say if play your ds phat alot then upgrade. You will see a major diffrerence once you upgrade it. It's nice to have both systems and would be good if you could save money and get a psp later. Both are great systems to have. I prefer the PSP due to the fact the DS is flooded with casual games, but there are many good games for it. I say do this: 1. Upgrade to DSI then buy somes games you want. Once you get a nice amount save some money to buy a psp. A 2000 and 1000 can be foudn cheap and is jsut as good as a 3000. You could also do the reverse and get a 3000 and then a DS lite but the first thing I said is a better deal.

You should've went to System Wars.

You're going to get biased responses here.

I'll say the PSP, though. As awesome as the DSi is getting a whole new platform is much better instead of upgrading for some new features.

This if you want a new console. But you seem to want more games for the DS. So I guess you should stick with that if you're content with it.

I say upgrade to a DSLight or buy a PSP, the DSi is useless imo. The PSP has some good RPGs but future looks better with Class of Heroes, Kingdom Hearts BBS, Persona PSP, Parasite Eve 3rd bday, Star ocean series, Tales of VS, Disgaea 2 and FFXIII Agito.

Cut a few more lawns or wash a few more cars and buy BOTH. They arte two entirely different systems with great games on BOTH. I've got both, it took me a few years to buy them but now i have the best of both.

I own both and would say go for the DS IF you didn't already have one. Yeah, it's the fatty, but you're still capable of playing all the games out there. In your case I'd say go for the PSP.

im sure neither is not a choice. haha. anyway, i think a DS has a bigger library of games compared to PSP (although i own a PSP) but how could resist a PSP anyway?

Get the PSP, I have both of them and seriously, there's no point getting a DSi if your current DS can already play all the DS games. The camera 'gimmick' is kinda dumb imo.
