i'm almost positive that there is a HD DVD version being released as well. Therefore, most likely, no one would buy a ps3 based on the blu ray version. But i'm sure that it will still rock hard. I'm just saying that it won't sell systems.

Ialready have a PS3, but I wouldn't pay $500 to watch one movie. I think people would sooner get it on DVD.

1 movie will not sell a $500 system when they can get the same movie on a $200-$300 player. When Universal moves over to blu-ray that will be a system seller and spell the end for hd-dvd.

I wouldn't buy a PS3 to watch 300 on Blu-Ray, but since I have a PS3, there is no doubt I am getting 300 on Blu-Ray. I mean seriously...why would I want the DVD version of a movie like that?

Uhmmm, just: no.

One movie is not going to sell a game console.

I see them docking the Blu-Ray version...compared to that score because of the 'extra' features :| We'll see...

But to be a console seller...not likely but I'll be buying it.

I wouldn't buy a PS3 just for one movie, but if you DO have a PS3 I think this is a must have movie.

while it was an excellent movie, and would look beautiful in blu-ray, I don't think most hdtv owners would buy the ps3 just because of one movie. Maybe after several good releases on blu-ray, like they had the pirates of the carribean on blu-ray, then yes they will buy a blu-ray player, but not really a single movie.

The HD DVD version is supposed to be better. It has a lot of extras that are not currently possible on Blu-ray.

Nothing is perfect... especially movies who's quality highly depends on the opinion of the viewer...

I highly doubt anyone is going to spend 500$ just to get a few extras (probably even none) in comparison to the HD DVD which is 18$ =\

Spiderman 3? Oh god please no. I never ever want to see that piece of crap again. 300 isn't a system seller but anyone over 14 will probably choose it over Spiderman 3.

I don't think most people will pay $500 for 300. I mean it's good, but they can also get it on DVD.

Oh, I highly doubt that Spider-Man 3 will be a system seller. Considering the fact it was not good may have something to do with it.

Well, i have a choice between the hd-dvd version or blu ray ...and i will chose hd-dvd. As to wether it will sell ps3 consoles...i highly doubt a blu ray movie is going to push a $500 console when the games cant. If half the ps3 owners dont even have a hdtv, whats the point of paying $30 for a blu ray movie when you can get it much cheaper on dvd?

While I don't think 300 is a PS3 seller, the thought of 300 in 1080P coupled with the temporary price drop of the PS3 convinced someone who was on the fence to go ahead and take the plunge and buy a system. Admittedly, my PS3 will probably get more Blu-ray movie use than videogame use (I'm more of a movie buff), but it's nice knowing that I'll be able to play games like Ratchet & Clank, Metal Gear 4 and Killzone 2 once they're released ;).

Not to mention that, unlike previous movie players that were bundled with game machines, the PS3 is actually an excellent Blu-ray player.

yeah... Sony is so awesome... cuz last gen PS2 could play DVD's off the bat, Xbox an add-on would need to be purchased plus a remote i think, and uhh Gamecube couldn't play nuttin but Gamecube games ha ha lol... this generation, PS3 comes with blu-ray player installed, 360 has HD-DVD add-on, and wii has DVD i think?? correct me if i'm wrong lol
