3.00 Is better than you think!

Sony did add a couple of good features such as copy and paste text, and take screenshots off the web browser, the new dynamic themes are cool to, but the best thing Sony did with 3.0 is make in-game XMB WAY FASTEr, it loads almost as fast as the normal XMB and moves smoothly and that's definately a great thing, regardless of some of the bad changes they made, this change makes it worth it!

Yeah, the in-game XMB's fluidity was one of the first things I tested - thus making 3.0 a very solid update in my books. Plus the sparkles. They are simply fabulous.hazelnutman

Well, I think I'll go for the update then. I've been hanging with 2.8.

I did get 3.0 for my Slim, but that didn't last for more than one day. I returned the Slim.

So, since I currently don't play Uncharted and don't have Bioshock, should I be ok with playing other games with 3.0? I heard some freezing issues have been happening with certain games. I like 3.0 visually. Mainly just the sparkles and the blur effects... that's about it.

2 Changes I don't like:

Platinum trophies don't contribute to the trophy %

The horrible grey boxes around friends - its fugly.

I have both older SD flat tube and LCD 32", 2 PS3s hooked up, the grey boxes still not my fave in the LCD screen.... if there's an option, I'd set it as clear boxes or in colors. Im sure there will a new update for it later in the future.

My main problem is having the PSN Store in the games menu.. then we also have the same "previews/recommended" where it belongs.. we dont need 2 extra tabs showing the PSN Store.. we know where it is. Its just made it more cluttered for no reason.Rattlesnake_8

I liked the new background and the logo.It's awesome.XMB its much faster in game.

Besides the most ugly friends list ever it's a nice update indeed.

absolutely nothing "fun" about it.

Personally I think it'd be cool if Sony let us choose our own colors for the friend's that would be cool, and when you click on friends it shouldn't go to a new screen to see the number of trophies because the friends list now is a cut off of the gamertag so if anything the info should load under it when you click on a friend. I also agree with the PS store being in too many locations one thing I hope they do with everything on the XMB though is the new squares that's how I should be able to see my photos and music as well that would be cool.

Man i love the LBP theme. I boguht a game on the store yesteday so i pt extra 5 bux for that theme. Damn i cant stop lookin at it haha

Yup a great update, now im getting used to the new friends list.. by the way for 80GB owners now with 3.0 more ps2 games are supported

The XMB is now cluttered with the ps store on every folder????? Am i seeing right???

Update was ok, but after all the hype I expected a few more 'bells and whistles'.

The friends list I don't mind too much. Has anyone else noticed they are just the headers from the profiles? Maybe the next update you can check profiles without going to a new screen, they may just expand the headers. Just a thought.

I do mind all the Store buttons everywhere though, I live in the UK and our store is usually a joke, so why would I want my attention drawn to it all the time? It may seem a bit trivial, but we haven't seen one single dynamic theme or premium avatar yet! What a great way to showcase what your new firmare can do!

Black was always listed as original in screen color options. Mine updated while my daughters profile was up and the screen was purple. After the update original is now purple insted of black under all profiles. I have no way of making my background color black anymore. They need to fix this I always leave my screen black as I think its the easiest to read.

I love dark gray, not this silver crap they gave us.

yeah, now that you put ti that way it realy was worth it, exept the shortcuts and the gray boxes on friends list

the only thing i didn't like was how they don't show the PS3 logo when starting the game

the screen blackout for so long, it became boring.. showing the ps3 logo would be much cooler, with the 'tink' sound :P:o

WHAT!! I hated that the Platinum trophies contributed to the percentage.

That's the one thing I hated about the whole trophy system.

copy & paste text from the browser has been there before 3.00
I also noticed that when you start a game, the Playstation 3 logo doesnt appear anymore

I love 3.00
I used to hate the friends list, but I love that now too.

the only thing i didn't like about 3.0 was replacing the trippy wavy water effect with the boring clock. i liked the wavy effect better.
