There is a lot of talk about how virtua fighter is supposed to utilize the hardware to the max and how its a good demonstration of what you can do with the system. There is a lot of hype about its technology and the PS3 hardware has help exploit the power that we will see in this fighting game. The question is this.. Will the xbox 360 game be just as good as the PS3 game? They make it sound like its so ps3 specific and we all know how 360 hardware isn't as good as ps3's. I dont know.. what do you guys think?

just 2 little differences:

1. PS3 version is 1080p
2. play fighting games on 360 controller is like using chopsticks to drink tea.

lol.. well first of all. motorstorm looks better than vf5. that already should tell you vf5 is not utilizing ps3's power to the max.. with that fact.. this thread already fails. .cause it wont take much effort to make the 360 vers as good as ps3 cause the graphics arent that spectacular in the first place.

If it's 1080P for the PS3 it will be 1080P on the xbox 360. Virtual Tennis is 1080P on both consoles plus there is a lot of talk about the game utilizing some xbox live features and they recently added the xbox live logo to the official website Link

Xbox 360 upscales to 1080p, PS3 is 1080p native.

games like Ridge Racer 7 were made in 1080p, but VT3 on Xbox 360 is 720p, but Xbox 360 upscales it 1080p.

native 1080p > upscale 1080p.

difference aint that much.

yea but the transfer rate is different.. 360 fakes it. Through HDMI you get 16g/s on 360 via component you get .18 g/s

You obviously don't know what you are talkign about. The xbox 360 does 1080P native. The developers can change their mind about online. RIght now VT3 is only online on the xbox 360 and like i said they added the xbox live logo to their website.

1080p in xbox 360 is like the greatest gimmick of all because only a handful of 1080p capable TV can display thru component.  When MS comes out with XBOX 360 HDMI version, now that's a different story.

It displays through VGA also and if your TV has HDMi it more than likely has VGA. Also theere is not another 360 comng out with HDMI. It was just a prototype ...the same way the PS3 had many prototypes.

Most TVs that support true 1080P they support it primarily over HDMI and not usually VGA.  The reason for this is the Full HD standard which is 1080P/60Hz/HDMI - it is becoming very popular now in the newest TVs.

For example, my HDTV supports 1080P over HDMI and only 720P over VGA.  In addition to this, the VGA inputs on many televisions have issues with overscanning.  Your image may well end up hanging off of the edge of the screen

Yes....360 w/ 1080P is something they like to tout but it is totally a gimmick.  If you want 1080P you had better be going for an HDMI set....otherwise it'd just be foolish

Most ports don't look quite as good as the original, but Bethesda made the ps3 version of Oblivion better, so maybe the makers of VF5 will be able to make the game close or equal to the ps3 version. As for VF5 online being possible on the 360, do you guys really think it would be any fun? How many people liked to play DOA online for the xbox 360? If you have a slower connection than the person you're playing you'll get raped.

You obviosly never played DOA online. It plays fantastic and I honestly never experienced any lag. Even street fighter is a ton of fun online. Playing games offline shoudl be a thing of the past after all this is 2007 and our internet connections are faster than ever. Right now I a 30/5mb connection. If you have a 768kb DSL connection then you should stay offline.

Move away from DSL and play folks with good connections. There is a bar that tells you how good the connection is.

This is a silly thread about a game which I'm sure will be pretty close to the same on both consoles unless there is some blatant hiccup for the 360 conversion.

However, that being said the PS3 does indeed have higher video bandwidth (HDMI 1.3 versus 1.2 or component) for signal output of Deep Color.   This is part of why the PS3 is more expensive and arguments over which console can do more will eventually mean that the PS3 will win with more features but at the cost of being more expensive.

*** Shall we drop this argument now?

And you obviously don't play Virtua Fighter to understand that Lag would destroy the gameplay.

Let those with crappy connections stay offline and those with high speed connections play online. It's a simple solution. I don't like or dislike anything I just speak my mind.

Whether you choose to exclude a set of people for their online speed or not dosent change the fact that Sega's AM2 is against an online mode for VF5.

The only true differance between the two versions will likely be that the PS3 version was just easier to make because the arcade board is very similar to the PS3 hardware. There MIGHT be slightly better game play because of thise fact and the PS3 has a better shader library so there may be a few extra lighting effects or textures but over al not much differance.

Calm yourself down sir.  You have a misunderstanding of how the requirements of lag & latency can affect gameplay.

It's not open to debate and your argument makes you come off... angry and "hard to talk to".
See DarkCatalyst's sticky on VF5 and lag.  It's all true.

As a software developer of 12 years I promise you this is not made up crap.  Lag/latency is a serious problem and an angry response of "those dumb slow people don't deserve to play" makes you sound like a teenager.

You aren't a teenager are you?

There isn't online play in either version.

After stressing throughout the entire game's development that there wouldn't be multiplayer because the internet can't completely elimnate the potential for lag, I don't see why that would suddenly change just because another console offers a service that runs on the same internet.

You have no place to question my credibility. Most broadband connections are asyncronous to an enormous degree. My particular connection is 3.0 megabits downstream and 384 kilobits upstream. It is a reliable connection and it's a very popular configuration.

The lag issue with DOA4 is very realized and is due in part to three factors:

1. the way that XBox peer-to-peer game connectivity works
2. the demanding network properties of a 3D fighting game
3. the amount of development time that must be allocated to make a smoothly running online fighting game

I agree that your comments are decidedly anti-PS3 and antagonistic. What is your point anyways? Virtua Fighter 5 has no online component anyways, and until it's announced there's nothing to really speak about

Good day, sir

No, obviously, _you_ are the one that don't understand how lag works. Before you claim your incorrect notion of "lag" to be accurate, read this.
