What would you be willing to pay for the 3G service of the NGP? I think it is awesome that it has 3G, although I am betting that it will cost a decent amount for a monthly plan. I would be willing to pay a few bucks a month for the service, but I own a tracphone for a reason :P. If somehow they make it free I will be blown away haha.

BTW I am assuming people understand the capabilities of a device with 3G :P.

Honestly, 3G is rather slow on my DROIDx. It takes a while to stream any youtube video (even on low quality). So, I'm going to pass up that offer and stick with Wifi.

10 to 15 dollars a month, only for unlimited 3G without browser support. I just want the ability to play games ANYWHERE, and EVERYWHERE. That is a true portable gaming device.

What do you mean? No browser support? I see no reason why that would be. But I'm you on that. Still, I might consider 3G for the future, if it offers features like texting or even phone features.

If it can be done without a contract I'd be willing to pay.

Also considering online is free for the PS3 it MIGHT be free for the NGP.

Unless that thing turns into a phone, then nothing. I'm not going to pay a monthly fee when I've already shelled out 300+ on the system. I'll stick to wi-fi in that case.

but with that logic, its like sayin because you have a ps3 you dont have to pay an internet bill. i see no way they could make 3G free, hopefully it will be cheap, unlimited and provided by a number of different mobile carriers.

In most major U.S. cities, there is atleast one Starbucks/McDonalds that has free WiFi. No reason for 3G, for me atleast.

I think if you want 3g you should be able to pay for that and if you don't want it you can just keep the wifi and not have to worry about paying monthly for something you don't really need I think if sony did this they would sell the psp ngp a lot faster and better

I wouldn't pay anything for 3G. I've got a smartphone and plenty of wifi locations about my town.

$15 would be reasonable and I'd definetly go for that, although I'll probably still end up getting the 3G version as long as the fee isn't above $30

I'd prefer $5, I would consider $10 depending on the limitations.

Ten to fifteen USD a month on a payg or pre-paid plan. Something that would not require a contract as that would be difficult to keep up with.

Sony are contemplating having the 3G model be the only model with a GPS hardware (although alll will have skyhook) so, there is even more insentive to buy the 3G model. Remember, developers will likely create games around what Sony are calling the NGP's "location based SDK" so, skyhook and WPS+IP positioning systems alone may not be enough to enjoy all the experiences.

The Japanese will likely only get the full on 3G product judging from the first meeting where there seemed to be no ambiguity (although, it may have been lost in translation) and EU will likely only get Wi-fi models. If the US is the only region to get the 3G model than, one must be opportunistic. Carpe diem, dudes!

:idea:I wish I could buy the 3G NGP at one price, I would pay up to $325 - $350 range if I didn't have to pay monthly for the 3G network, they would get way more business if it was a one time price instead of a monthly pay!

There is little merrit to that but, not every block will have wi-fi. Even in some of the most densely packed and technology savvy cities, there maybe large radius of wifi spots but, they don't go everywhere like 3G or some wi-fi routers are locked. (In fact, there seems to be a trend that more home and private wi-fi spots have encrytion locks due to piracy and other illegal online activity).

It is slightly discouraging that less people want to buy the 3G version however, a future 4G(a term used for advanced 3G radio signals) model of the NGP may alter that point of view. Nonetheless, a special package by Sony for the 3G model will have the NGP selling like some proverbial hot-cakes.

I will just get the NGPversion without 3G. For that I'll be paying $450.00 on launch day. I may upgrade to a NGP with 3G later. Plus where I live they do not have a 3G ready network anyways

The 3G version would be great for travel because you can't really pick up any good wi-fi while zooming down the highway at 60 miles per hour so the 3G always gets you connection wherever you go! It is pretty cool!

It is really cool! I don't have a 3G plan on my phone so, I can't tether 3G. The NGP will serve as both my 3G and GPS device. Both, very useful.

I have an Xperia X10a and its really fast. I tether it to my laptop for internet access anywhere I go and I get download speeds of up to 5mb/s in good service areas. Pages finish loading in like 2 seconds. Anyways, for people saying that they already have a data plan and they don't wanna pay for two, i'm guessing the NGP will be like tablet pc's, netbooks, laptops and any device with a sim card slot so you can just share your data plan over all your devices.

Well 3G here in the US seems to be very slow and sub par when you compare it to other countries 3G. so if they have 2 different versions i will just get the WiFi Version as my cell phone has Texting and GPS. if there is only the 3G version. well i guess i would halfto get that lol.

the 3g would be really nice, the ngp will have most of the features of the ps3,u will be able to invite, make and play with friends and not just random people that you'll only play with once and cant even talk to!.Kinda like having a ps3 in ur hands, the reliableness of knowing u can play with ur friends whenever u want is extremely good, but in my opinion as long as u have wifi at your house,it shouldn't harm the fun :),if sony just made both models into one single model and gave you the choice without any extra money,i would consider paying 5-10 dollars a month,i don't think sony would make it free since it would be like having free internet.....forever lol

I'd be willing to pay for the 3gp as long as its at a 5-10 dollar a month kinda thing, and only if the extra 100 dollar wasn't there.I'm not sure how much ngp games are going to cost but u can get atleast 2 or 3 really good games with that 100.

I don't need 3G. I want the Wi-Fi only version for hopefully a 3DS price tag, which seems to come true.
