[QUOTE="wakefulness"][QUOTE="TheRealLisaAnn"]In most major U.S. cities, there is atleast one Starbucks/McDonalds that has free WiFi. No reason for 3G, for me atleast.Hammstray
There is little merrit to that but, not every block will have wi-fi. Even in some of the most densely packed and technology savvy cities, there maybe large radius of wifi spots but, they don't go everywhere like 3G or some wi-fi routers are locked. (In fact, there seems to be a trend that more home and private wi-fi spots have encrytion locks due to piracy and other illegal online activity).
It is slightly discouraging that less people want to buy the 3G version however, a future 4G(a term used for advanced 3G radio signals) model of the NGP may alter that point of view. Nonetheless, a special package by Sony for the 3G model will have the NGP selling like some proverbial hot-cakes.
The 3G version would be great for travel because you can't really pick up any good wi-fi while zooming down the highway at 60 miles per hour so the 3G always gets you connection wherever you go! It is pretty cool!It is really cool! I don't have a 3G plan on my phone so, I can't tether 3G. The NGP will serve as both my 3G and GPS device. Both, very useful.
