i want to buy a 80gb ps3 but their seem to be sold out everywhere. is there anyway to *upgrade* a 40gb to an 80gb

If you just want a bigger harddrive pretty much any standard 2.5" notebook drive will work. You can get a 250GB drive for as low as 85 dollars on newegg. Most people prefer to go all the way to 320GB, which will cost about 50-75 more than that.

The HDD is no problem because you can use any 2.5 SATA HDD, but updateing the HDD will not do anything for the BC support. The hardware in the 40 gig is completely different from the 80 gig.
