I recently found out that my TV only supports 480p. (I had it at 1080p because I had no idea what those meant before) so I switched it to 480p and when a friend sent me a message the thing in the top right corner saying I got a new message was HUIGE. (and my XMB seems much larger as well!)

So what im saying is... Is there a way for me to keep 480p but have a smaller XMB because I find it quite annoying how the message box is so huige.

Thanks.

I believe there is this option in the settings that can make the ratio 4:3 or 16:9(?). Maybe this will solve the problem.

Try turning it off and than turning it of and than turning the switch on the back off. Then put your finger on the I/O button and without removing your finger switch the back swithc on. You shold hear a beep after a few seconds. Take you finger off and your done. Your PS3 should have auto detected the best settings for your PS3.

Oh I see, you have an old school enhanced definition plasma. It should still display 720p and 1080i without any problems. Sounds like you may have a problem with your set. Since 480p is a 4:3 aspect ratio I'm afraid it's always going to look like that.
