I just got a new 4bg memory card for my PSP. It's a Sony HIGH SPEED thingy.

But when I tried to copy some 200 files to the card it said it would take 55 minutes.
The same files transfer in just 1 minute on my old 2gb card.

Are the bigger cards really this much slower? Or is there something wrong?

1. did u got from ebay then that's why

2. if you are sure it's a tru memory stick and not a fake one. :)

if so 4gb is slower than 2gb beacuse 4gb it's formatted in a different wway to be compatible with old windows.

but if u own xp or vista u'r ok

if interest then msg me i have a way to format 4gb like 2gb

I didn't get it on ebay. But it might be a fake card...
But it says Sony Memory STick PRO Duo on it, anyway. That, of course doesn't mean it's real.

I formatted it in my PSP. Was that wrong?
How would you do it?

i can put a sign on me that says "Richest Man on Earth" but does that make me the richest man on Earth?

no. its probably fake. the transfer rate should be around the same.

A 4gb card shouldn't be any different in terms of speed than a 2gb card, as long as they are the same brand and type of card (gaming/high-speed, etc). I have a 2gb and 4gb pro duo of the same card and they transfer the same, so there is a problem somewhere that you are running into...whether it be a fake card or something else.

I checked it to the guidelines found at http://reviews.ebay.ca/FAKE-Sony-Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-MagicGate-Cards-Exposed_W0QQugidZ10000000001236041

It's definitively a fake card. Grrrr! I just sent an email to the seller. The money is on hold until I let the buy through... so he won't get any money until we sort this out (I won't get them back either... I guess).

I bought one off eBay. I got pwnd, the title said Memory Stick Pro Duo for Sony devices. Not Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo. Yea it was a generic one and has a bit slower transfer speed, but at $40 buck its a steal either way. Theres probably still some quality to it, as it says Made in Japan on it. I guess thats more trustworthy than it saying Made in China lol.

Ok... I solved it. Here's how:

* I formatted the card in the psp first
* Copied all the folders to the computer
* Formatted it in FAT16 via Disk Manager
* Copied back the folders to the card

I had to do the folder copy thingy, since the PSP reformats the card in FAT32
