I want a PS3 for MGS4, but my wife says there has to be at least 5 games that I want for the system in order for it to be worth it, and here's the extra catch; one of them has to be something she wants.

So far I only have 2 for myself:
Metal Gear Solid 4
Resident Evil 5

There are several games I am also willing to try, but I don't really see them as system sellers (Defined as games I will play more than once, and at least 5 years from now. These games could be system sellers, but I've never tried them.)
Such as:
Orange Box
Resistance
Call of Duty 4
Assassin's Creed

I'll also note Final Fantasy 13, but that game has as much potential to be a failure as it does to be great.

My wife likes Rock Band, and so we'll probably end up with that, but she wont count it as "her game."

So here's where I need your help; I need at least two more games that are justifiably system sellers, and I need one game that she likes. I like everything except for sports games pretty much, so I'm easy.

However, what she likes is something else. She can't play things that require too much coordination; so although she is a fan of MGS along with me, it's only a game she'll watch. The game for her has to be something she willl play.

She likes RPGs and easy-cake action games like Zelda or Dark Cloud. I think what she likes most of all is Harvest Moon and she said if there was any sort of dating sim, that would be enough for her.

Now you might think "This is your system, you should go out and buy it regardless of what your wife thinks, you whipped wuss." But the fact is I have to convince her that it's in our budget to drop the $500 at all.

Help me out if you can!

Oh, and for the record; I have moral qualms with GTA in general, so GTA is completely out.

1) ff13 will not be a failure...BUT since u seem to doubt a team made up of the people who worked on ff7 and 10 (the team is amazing) your wife actually might love LBP like an above poster said. The game will have a very long life because of the user created content to be released through it and will be a joy while playing it. (you also probably would love the game). I would say FF13 and FFversus 13 are system sellers for me, but since you are kind of weary of them, others such as killzone or RPGs like White Knight Story will be coming out. Just look at the list of games coming out and research them for the game that fits you, there is a huge diversity of exclusives

Would she like Ratchet and Clank? If I remember right, they have always been fairly easy, yet still fun and engaging games. I also have heard many good things about Uncharted.

Hmm... FF13 is made by teh same people who made FF7 and 10 eh?

Those are her favorite games. She doesn't like the way the main character looks though... hence the hesitation.

Sounds like you have too many freaking rules to deal with brother. I would say try a PSN game. Those are cheap and tons of fun. Maybe PAIN or The bowling game. Otherwise, you can go with SingStar if she like to sing.

The Ratchet and Clank series is really fun and entertaining, especially for those who aren't into intense games.

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance is a game I play with people who aren't too into video games, but most seem, like me, to love super heroes.

Army of Two: Isn't the best game, has some problems, but me and my friend absolutely loved playing it, because of the focus on teamwork.

Oblivion is probably the best rpg, and rpgs aren't normally too physically challenging so might be nice, though never played it.

And as far as the system goes. The reasons I got it are:

MSG4

Killzone2

Fifa 08

Warhawk

Bioshock

Fallout 3 (not out tell Q4)

Oblivion (you may or may not like it is a RPG and its cheap)

i would check into a couple of those games but as a far as your wife is concerned i can't think of anything that she will like except rockband.

Folklore has RPG elements and is an action oriented, but has the fantasy things. It isn't really Zelda, but it is similar in the fact you walk around and do things,

If your looking for an easy pick up and play game, get hot shots golf. Pushing X 3 times and moving your guys stance right or left should not be too hard. You can earn new moves and the characters are cute and adorable.

Ratchet and Clank is only one player, but that game has a lot of charm and is pretty easy.

Little Big Planet isn't out yet, but coming in October. You can build what you want and there reall is no winning or losing.

Disgaea 3 is a strategy RPG, but that game is rather lengthy and sort of complicated. This comes out in August

so your choices are

MGS 4

RE 5

Folklore

Hot Shots Golf

Little Big Planet

Disgaea 3

Ratchet and Clank.

There is 6

Have your wife play Heavy Rain when it comes out.

Mine plays Ratchet and Clank, Kung Fu Panda, and once in a blue moon Call of Duty 4.

I only say Kung Fu Panda because it have 4 players and you could battle eachother like Smash Bros sytle.

Are you kiddding me, your wife is telling you this? She better be making the money for her to have a say in whether or not you can purchase a system.

If its unaffordable then I understand, but if you can afford it I say go to the store pickup Uncharted, MGS4, GTA4, Rock Band, and GT5P.

If I had to choose five games that are currently out, I would choose...

1. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots

2. Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

3. Grand Theft Auto IV

4. Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

5. Burnout Paradise

I own all of these by the way.

I think she could. She'd definately enjoy it more than Ratchet and Clank. And why do people keep suggesting Hot Shot's golf? I guess I didn't specifically mention that she also has no interest in sports games.

Actually, half the reason I'm asking you guys is because I'm interested in games that are not out yet as well as current ones.

Not to mention Gamespot has been a little behind on the times, and IGN has a really crappy search engine.

Go with Uncharted for now, along with MGS4. MGO should keep you good till LittleBigPlanet arrives, that would be good for you and your wife. If it doesn't keep you that long, choose another long-term game like WarHawk, CoD4 or Oblivion. Then again, Ratchet & Clanck is a good and fun game but easy, as your wife might like it. Don't really know that there is some sort of dating-sim but Yakuza 3 has something like that built into the game.

You could also buy PixelJunk Monsters and soon coming PixelJunk Eden, they're simple, fun and addictive but cheap!

Also, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue is great for it's cheap, £20.

Dark Mist (PSN) has a bit of a Zelda like feel in it because of the dungeon type levels. The gameplay is a bit more fast paced though.

White Knight Story might be a good choice for an RPG.

Uncharted, CoD4 are the two I would go with along with R5 and MGS4. Wait and get LittleBigPlanet for her. She'll love it, you'll love it.

I know it's one of the few games my GF can't wait to have come out.

I hate to say it, but if your budget is $500, then it's not worth getting the system--the 5 games alone will cost you close to $300 (unless you buy it used--but still a good chunk of money) and that still doesn't count for the PS3 you need to get and accessories (i.e. second controller)

It seems to me you only want the PS3 for one game MGS4 which isn't really a good idea. I don't know why you limit yourself to only a PS3 when you can get Resident Evil 5, Orange Box, Call of Duty 4, Assassin's Creed and Rock Band all for 360 as well for a bit cheaper. Also I'd like to mention your wife may REALLY enjoy Scene It and Fable 2 (Since oyu mentioned Zelda and Dark Cloud as games she likes) which is something you both can play thus making the decision on a game console a bit more fair and easier. If your main reason for wanting a PS3 is because you want MGS4 well then you have little choice but if you just want a good next gen console for you and your wife factor in the 360 as a possibility as well.

My suggestions are as follows:

Uncharted - Drakes Fortune. The first game on the PS3 i picked up and could not put down until I was finished. Awesome graphics, Awesome gameplay, decent story. Very rewarding to play.

Pixel Junk Monsters - is a downloadable game from the PSN. I would suppose any male or female gamer would have a hard time putting this one down. Very addictive. Very fun, sometimes frustratingly challenging though.

MSG4 - I'm playing right now. Worth $500 by itself.

Little Big Planet is looking to be fun.

I hear there is a Katamari in the works my ex- GF liked this game more than me.

RE5 - might be the only game that gives MGS4 a run at the interactive movie of the century.

If you said she likes FF's. You will want to get a PS3. FF13 will not dissapoint. I know a guy who knows a guy who knows that if you know anything about Video Games you know this game will be spectacular.

You will love the orange box, oblivion, uncharted, Pixel Junk Monsters and MGS4 for now. You will love FF13 and RE5 later. I always regretted not getting my ps2 earlier, don't make that mistake. Just think how much $ you will save staying in on a Friday night watching Solid Snake eat the Vermin of the world.

ROCK BAND IS GAY - if you are going to play video games, play something cool. If you want to play guitar quit being such a d**che and learn. You ever watch South Park, right on the money.

The same could be said about any video game. If you wanna shoot a gun, go out and learn how to shoot a real one. If you wanna play sports, go out and play real sports. If you wanna live in a fantasy world, go out and write a book about your own fantasy world. Rock Band is a great game. Don't knock it.

You can't really go out and live MGS or GTA or Oblivion or Uncharted or FF. If you've learned how to Summon Dragons please fill me in. But I apologize, I know alot of people enjoy Rock Band. Keep on Rocking in the Free World.
