Cloudstrife makes a good point for many families.
But then the game console could actually be somewhat cheaper that many other family activities are. It can be used by the entire family for family time entertainment such as movies, viewing family photos stored on digital media, even with an inexpensive sound system they can enjoy quality musicfrom music media (CD's and flash cards), they can enjoy the old classic PS games on the system, actually with kids it can be good way to keep them so ocupied they tend to stay out of trouble.
I live in Florida and the cost for a family of 4 to spend 1 day at any of the majorattractions here could actually cost about $500.00 if there conservitive (meaning only buying food and drinks and nothing else).
