I saw 50 dollar mail in rebate for PS3 at a local fye store. Do you think there's a catch? I think it's a good deal as long as I remember to do the rebate. Should I get PS3 now or after E3 just in case Sony announces price reduction or new controller.

there will not be a price reduction and if they do announce a new controller you can just go out and buy it as an accessory

Unless you are from a really poor family or you are a 12 year old, the PS3 is not that expensive.

The mail in rebate sounds like a good deal as long as they actually mail the rebate back to you. I have sent in several of them on different things from different stores and I might get 1 out of 10 back. That's the only real catch.

so what you are saying is.... 2 weeks worth of work is not very much money to you? half a house payment is not very much money? twice a normal car payment is not a lot of money to you?

dude.... you need to realize that MOST americans make less than 30K a year....

AND have familys to feed... homes to pay... gas to pay... hydro is not cheap either. If you are rich then good for you.... others have to budget to enjoy the things they can.

Cloudstrife makes a good point for many families.

But then the game console could actually be somewhat cheaper that many other family activities are. It can be used by the entire family for family time entertainment such as movies, viewing family photos stored on digital media, even with an inexpensive sound system they can enjoy quality musicfrom music media (CD's and flash cards), they can enjoy the old classic PS games on the system, actually with kids it can be good way to keep them so ocupied they tend to stay out of trouble.

I live in Florida and the cost for a family of 4 to spend 1 day at any of the majorattractions here could actually cost about $500.00 if there conservitive (meaning only buying food and drinks and nothing else).

Well I bought the PS3 with accessories, and 360 with HD-DVD player and the Wii with accessories and a lot of games, and I will till you the PS3 is really expensive and games are expensive to. The guy that said it is easy to buy the stuff is just fortunate more than others, do not flaunt that guy! And there are issues of why people can not afford it, even if you get a "Job" and save money it still takes a while for some due to responsibilities!
