Nah, just do like I do and stream them from your PC.
This way when you want you can make 'em disappear!
~50GB for local installation of Linux for the PS3 (more if it can't read the Sony partition). Local storage of pretty much all my videos and non-DRM music (sadly, ps3 can't play my itunes stuff, but the 360 can't either so...) so I can bring it around with me wherever. If there ever ends up being an HDLoader for the PS3, that would eat the disk space pretty quickly.http://www.gamepro.com/article/features/206951/how-to-supercharge-your-ps3/

[QUOTE="PJ24"]I don't think I could fill up that space :Pcodezer0Famous last words in technology. Everyone always says that at some point, and then invariably finds a way once they actually have it. Honestly I don't...unless they make every episode of 24 in HD for download...even then I don't think it would fill it! :P
Does switching hard drives on your ps3 endanger anything on it. like break it in any way? (yes, this is a legit question, i'm not too computer savvy)Sports_N_E_1
No, but it's a pain redownloading any PSN games/add-ons. The toughest part is getting the screws out as it's pretty easy to strip them. It's actually a really easy thing to switch hdds though. If you have no need for the old hdd get an 2.5 inch external enclosure and then you can use it for storing pics, vids, music. Here's a vid on youtube how to change the hdd.

Honestly I don't...unless they make every episode of 24 in HD for download...even then I don't think it would fill it! :P Every person, without exception, that has ever said that at one point, will invariably get the kind of storage that they're saying "oh, I'll never fill that much space", and then end up complaining about how they "don't have enough". It may be a year or two, or in some cases, less. Just give it time; you'll have a reason to need that much space (and more!) soon enough. It's the same reason I refuse to say such a thing anymore.
eheh.. i'd fill it up with pics, movies, anime, series, videos, music, games.. oh gawd xPSollidSnake_
thats axactlly what im gona do too :)
thats awesome!
its that easy!
that feature totally pwns 360's hdd.
but anyways, this makes me wonder, where is all the firmware stuff stored and ya kno, the operating system? im dumb with that stuff so help me out! he didnt explain transferring files at all.
why did he say that 80GB ps3's and 40GB ps3's are diffrent then launch 60GBs?Starscream35Considering that Sony changed around the internal layout of the PS3's PCB since neutering it, the newer models may have a different mechanism for dealing with the hard drive of the units. He was just dying a CMOA ("Cover My Own Ass") by keeping mindful that the newer units out on sale now may have a different way of installing/removing the hard drive.
Yes -- both the 80 and 40 are different from the launch 20/60 gig models, where they have a different tray system to get the HDD in and out. Nothing more. And, contrary to what some have indicated on the boards, this does not void the warranty. Sony actually has directions in the directions shipped with the unit as well as at their online support center.
And, btw, it's totally worth it!
