I find it worthless to see these news stories as it gives the wrong impression to most readers here. It's just another lab test that has nothing to do with commercial or consumer stuff, atleast for not along time and when it could there's already be something better. I mean not even a 4 layer Blu-ray is worthwhile to talk about since it no way effects movies or games, but only storage on computers, it might as well be a brand new format in itself since not all blu-ray and hd-dvd drives can read more layers than 2.
This is a bit interesting mixing the holographic tech with regular disc recording discs, whether it be red laser dvds or blue laser HD-DVD and Blu-ray. But in the end it's be so expensive when it comes out that buying a harddrive would be easier. A 1000gig 3.5inch drive are more available now and under $400 and can be bought now.
