got mine on launch and it's fine... people who are complaining about their systems breaking seem to have to do with R2... got 6 people on my list that had to send it in to sony, and the common factor was they were playing R2 or had it in the system... i think there was a topic discussing that somewhere on the ps3 boards.
while the unlucky ones had their issues NOT all 60GB owners experienced it. im one of those who still have the 60GB launch, and bought another 6months later for my gf and both still going strong (knock on wood) but its an electronic u cant really predict anythin. they all die one way or another or have their issues. and denji i hope u get urs fixed soon bro, feel bad for u (really do) cuz ur missing out on some good games. P.S u probably got it back by now if u didnt then well hope to see u soon online
i got mine 12/17/2006 and its still going. only thing wrong now is my HDD space, finally starting to run out almost. too many games, lol. but its still running great.
owner since march 17 07 , works, the memory readers cover is gone but the thin works, (the black piece that slips down to cover the sd and other slots,) had no problems with it, ocasionally though it would refuse to eject disc , but i fixed that lol, by blowing it, , it worked so now it is flawless,
Got my 60GB unit when they announced that they were going to be discontinued. So far no problems, and I use it nearly every day for games and movies. Mostly movies.
I've been a 60 gig owner since july '07 and I've had zero problems, apart from an ocassional freeze. Actually, this topic was a great idea, since we always hear about 60 gigs gettin' YLOD or breaking down, that made me freak out a few times, but it's nice to hear that most every 60 gig is still up and running.

There's only 3 MAIN REASONS why peoples ps3' sare shutting down on them:
1. They're not taking care of it correctly.
2. In a very rare case they are shutting down on them.
I got mine on 12/21/06 and unfortunately, it got the YLOD a few days ago. So now I have to send it in, right around Christmas too. I hope I don't miss any PSN specials or something.
Still kicking, a couple of freezes here and there in it's early life time, but nothing major thank God... had plastic surgery a few weeks ago and everything seems to be going smooth (500GB HDD). Im very pleased so far and I don't know what I would do without her.... :::tears up::: :cry:

I got a pre-owned one & I've had it for three months with no problems so far *knock on wood*. I still have 3 months warranty with the seller but I'm going on Continous Play next year just to play it safe.
I voted mine hasnt broke but the truth is, I bought a PS3 from target and hooked it up that night and it woulnd't work. I got a black screen with the starting sounds and that was it, then it would shut its self off and flash red after 5 beeps. I called sony and asked them about it and they said it was overheating, so I explained to them and they said it was overheating, Fresh and Sparkling clean out of the box I got a dead one that overheated itself. So i returned it to target and the lady at the Cust Service desk said "thats strange we've been getting alot of those lately." Other than that not a single problem with mine.
My BD drive broke after 8 months, unlucky I guess. I could still play PS2 games and watch dvd's, but I could'nt use BD's. It was probably the BD laser. I also noticed that the 60GB gets a lot warmer than the newer 80GB versions.
