hey I am going to trade in my 60g refurbished PS3 for an 80g one. This is not because of memory or anything. I am just tired of it cutting off and the fan is entirely to loud.

I was wondering to all the 80g owners out there what is the difference in the two? like from the usb ports to the backwards compatibilty...

I was also wondering how much do you think I will get for it(store credit mind you) cause I am going to buy an 80g the same day?

Considering how much the 60s go for, sell it online. You could probably match the price of the 80 GB one, which you wouldn't if you traded it for store credit.

Unless you're having problems with it, I'd just keep your 60.

Well, double checking the prices, you wouldn't get as much as I originally thought with the 60 GB, around maybe $340-350, but that's still a lot more than what you'd get SC.

If you backwards compatibility means anything to you, you should keep it. Only the older (discontinued) models of the 80gb have it. If the 80gb doesn't have four usb ports in the front, it doesn't have backwards compatibility. And even then, your 60gb backwards compatibility is much more complete than the 80gb. The new 80gb, 160gb, and 40gb have no backwards compatibility. So once again, if you want to keep any backwards compatiblity you got to get an older model. I would live happily with the 60gb, but good luck either way.

that sounds good to me... and look the only thing that I do not like about my 60g is the fan is WAY too loud... and my friends newer models do not have that problem.... trust me guys I have had the 60g for a while and to tell the truth it is overrated to me...

but what you all are telling me is that no new ps3 spec type out now has backwards Compat? or am I wrong?

I have a 60 gig that's been on for a little over two years 24/7 and never had a problem. As for the fan making some noise it could be that there isn't enough space for air to flow through the system, if this is the problem it wouldn't matter which system you have. You could try standing the PS3 vertically in a open space.
