We were playing guitar hero and the song glitched and started skipping but the notes and stuff were fine. We quit the game and it froze so my brother turned it off with the switch and when we turned it back on the icon for the game wont come up

You could send it in to Sony and pay the 150 bucks to get it repaired or you could go to this site on ebay and get it repaired for a lot less. Follow this link to check it out. Good luck!

I was having the same problem a little while ago, and all I did was run a DVD lens cleaner a couple of times, and blew some air in the drive. It works perfectly fine for me now.

Whats a DVD lens cleaner and how do you blow air in the drive?
Man that sucks. My brother in law 60gb also died this pass weekend. He tried to put in Blu Rays and different games but it just wouldn't read the thing. I'm guessing you have to call Sony. Just go to Playstation.com and find their customer service contact number. I guess you have to pay $160 and have patience to get it fix.
try searching youtube for a guide on replacing the blu-ray drive. I coulda swore I seen one there not too long ago. It might be cheaper than sending to sony
for one thing buy a intercooler for the ps3 and for ur ps3 i heard the ps3 is not made for both the ps3 games and the blu-ray movies so wither play one or the other that could be why peoples 60gb died i only play games on mine and play blu-rays on a seperate player and i have a intercooler on mine also i had my system for almost 3 years now and its a 60 gb and it still works fine
Is it for sure the blu ray drive thats broken? How hard is it to replace? It looks hard because you would have to disconnect all the wires then connect them again.
Youtube search, fix PS3 Blu Ray drive, and there' should be videos for it. I don't want to send in my PS3 and pay $160, so if anything happens to my PS3 Fat that's what I'm going to do.
But just incase if you open up your PS3 and try to fix it yourself but still won't get fix, are you still able to send to Sony or they won't fix it anymore since you opened it yourself?
[QUOTE="Alacoque72"]So if you're out of warranty you won't be able to pay them to get it fix?Opening it yourself voids the warrenty
gago-gago
It's free to get it fixed with warrenty and you have to pay without warrenty
Whats a DVD lens cleaner and how do you blow air in the drive?
