Ok... I was playing Persona 3 on my 80 GB and nothing is wrong with it but right in the middle of the game, it freezes on me. I put like 40 hours into the game. I'm thinking about returning it to Walmart and replacing it with the 60 GB. Is it possible to transfer my data from 80GB to 60GB? Not sure if the back up will work seeing that they're really different. Please help.
The 40, 60, and 80 GB are pretty much identical. The problem you encountered is awkward, i would recommend contacting Sony. However, you did create an internal memory card and saved all your PS2 data on that memory card right?
60 gigs were discontinued but you might find a used one at a Gamestop. I bought a 60 gig because I was told it's backward compatability was better than others...
All the consoles have some kind of freezing at some time in there games. Also if this happens to be a PS2 game it may get a firmware update in the future to correct the problem. I had a game that would act up until after a couple of firmware updates and it hasn't had a problem after the update that had a fix in it.

I checked the database and my games work perfectly with the 60GB and when I checked the 80GB they don't have it listed.
If that's the case then the software emulation wasn't tested with that game yet and, as you have found out, it doesn't work quite right. Nothing tht can be done other than hope they update the BC in the next firmware update, whenever that may be.

That is incorrect. The 40 GB SKU does not have backwards compatibility with any PS2 titles. The original 60 GB SKU plays about 100% of PS2 titles because of the integrated Emotion Engine. However, the later production runs of the 60 GB and all 80 GB SKUs implement software emulation for backwards compatibility, which results in a slightly lower percentage of compatible PS2 titles.

Game is too good i can't wait for that. I'm going to sell it for 450$ with 2 years of warranty from walmart, motorstorm, and 5 blu-rays.

(watch now that i've typed that it'll start to freeze all the time) I was in the middle of running around in tartarus when it froze. I'd give it another shot before taking it back i can understand frustration at somehting so expensive not working the way its designed to.

Ooops didn't read the entire thread too carefully it seems. I didn't realize that you continously freeze at the exact same spot in the game. When mine froze (maybe about 40hours into it though i couldn't say for sure) i was able to get through the point at which it froze once i restarted and it hasn't happened since. The trick would be to find someone else with the 80gb who's been able to beat the game or at least has cleared the place at which your console locks up.
