do you really care about BC? if not, then i guess you can wait. the 65nm CPU produces less heat, therefore MIGHT be quieter, but who knows. theres not really any heat issues with the current Cell processors, as long as you leave a decent amount of room for ventilation.rahzel54the ps3 is allready quiet. wii and 360 are loud, and I would know.
which do you think is better? i cannot really play the PS3 until mid-June so i am wondering if i should get the current PS3 model and let it sit until then or wait for the future model. which version is better? please no bias answers if you already got the current PS3.Zero5000X90nm + hardware bc all the way. Software emulation (which may offer advantages for certain titles) can be done on any PS3, 90nm Cells have no issues I'm aware of.
wouldnt the 65nm be better because it would use less electricity which would save money, and produce less heat which would allow the console to last longer?Zero5000Xif it produces less heat, sony may use a different cooling design. 65nm will most likely use less power, however, the difference would be minimal; maybe a few bucks a month at the very most. as for the BC, i don't even know if sony announced this for the NTSC versions, but if they are to follow the PAL version, then BC will be completely software emulated, so the compatibility will be lower. however, Sony announced they are aiming for over 1000 titles to be compatible, and there were ~2400 PS2 games released in Europe. N/A only saw about half of that, so well have to wait and see.
i go for the 65 nm...it produces less heat and doesn't need as much power as the 90 nm ps3. don't curse me if i am wrong ;)falconzss
Really?
[QUOTE="Zero5000X"]wouldnt the 65nm be better because it would use less electricity which would save money, and produce less heat which would allow the console to last longer?rahzel54if it produces less heat, sony may use a different cooling design. I am just wondering if this will lead to a price drop. Even though Sony said there wouldn't be one for 2 years the PS3 is in last place out of the 3 consoles. Less people that own it means less exclusives and third party support. if sony wants to win and sell more to the casual gamer they will have to drop the price as soon as possible. i am just wondering if these new PS3s will allow a price drop.

Sony has their own studios that do just fine, and they support independent, lesser known studios. Sony has always made their best titles from independent and their own studios. do you people all have amnesia? this is exactly the same as last gen, they arent lowering the price for a while. my god, how do you people not know this yet, its been stated like 500 times, and its simple business, Sony isnt stupid, they obviously know what they are doing.
