I tried looking into this a while back and couldn't really find any definitive answer. However, I would have to agree with some of the people above: 80GB is largely recognized to have 90nm and 40GB is rumored to have 65nm.
However,if the 40GB does use 65nm processor there is no reason they would not put it in the newer models of the 80GB.
