Hey, Im ready to buy a PS3 but I had a few questions before I did.

First, did they discontinue the 80gb model that has the ps2 emulation on it? Cause I want to play ps2 games on it as well

And how well does it play ps2 games anyway?

My other question is, if I buy a ps3 now, will it have the dual shock controller in it or the original six axis?

thanks

The 80 GB model has been discontinued. The current PS3s come with a six axis controller. If you search you should still be able to find an 80 GB model. You can find out about PS2 compatibility here: http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus

1. No.

2. It had 85%+ of PS2 and PS1 games emulated at launch. Emulation has increased since then. Consult the official PS3 website for details on a particular game.

3. Current packages come with a SIXAXIS. Dualshock 3's may be included in future packages starting in June.

Hmmm.. I'm thinking of waiting it out for the Dual Shock and get Metal Gear at the same time... I notice on the site that games like MGS3 still have issues playing, ouch.

I don't think the 80 gig was dicontinued instead it's being held back for a later release with the DS3 later on. The 80 gig has good BC support and with firmware it is getting better.
