A few questions regarding the PS3

With the release of the new PS3 packages even tho' im a M$ fanboy, Sony's new pack caught my eye. Before I decide on buying the system, I would like to ask the community on these forums to help answer some of the harder questions im faced with.

1)What is the latest package out atm? What does it include and how does it differ from a standalone ps3+controller pack

2)Do any of the ps1/2 games have problems runing on the system and how is it with the screen texturing (seen a video of FF looking awfull, ran on the ps3^^)

3)Is there a service provided by Sony that allows you to download demo / update games and keep track of friends build into the console right from the start?

4) Who runs the game servers for only matches considering Sony does'nt from what I've heard

5)is the online play free or do you need to pay a monthly fee

6)Best stance : horizontal or vertical (explanation would be nice :P)

7)Name a few must-have games that I should own if i buy the console (apart from Ninja Gaiden : Sigma)

8) What happend to the boomerang type controller introduced at the first offical PS3 showing

1) 80GB + Motorstorm for 599, or 499 for 60GB (60GB model has 98% BC to PS2 and PS1 games, the 80GB model has about 80%)

2) PS2/1 games run on the PS3 with no problems at all (at least the 60GB model that I own). upgrading games works well but nothing spectacular since the oringinal games do not support HD

4)the game companies run the servers for the games

5) on line is absolutely free

6)I'd say vertical because it would let all the hot air up

7)Resistance, MotorStorm, Rainbow six: vegas, Call of duty 3, WarHawk, God of War 2 (PS2 game, but a stunning game), Heavenly Sword and Lair. upcoming games are going to be amazing like uncharted, UT3, and Socom this year, and MGS4 killzone2, and GT5.

Gonna buy a 60gig PS3 in the near future and enjoy some of the old school ps2 games :P
