Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth would be the first RPG that comes to mind. And PoPoLocrois is pretty decent also.

Valkyrie Profile is good.  Monster Hunter Freedom is another good one, but not exactly your traditional RPG.  Kinda feels like a MMO without online.

I have heard good things about both of those. My friend really liked playing Popolocrois. I also recommend Monster Hunter Freedom.

Depends on what you're looking for. If you want a classic RPG like the original Final Fantasy, wait for Final Fantasy Anniversary unless you already have it on the Gameboy Advance. If you can deal with bad dialogue and a mediocre storyline, Legend Of Heroes can be found for under $20 at Gamestop or EB and has about 40-50 hours of gameplay. Popolocrois is another good old-school style title. I have Valkyrie Profile, but haven't played enough to say if it's worth getting or not (45 minutes and I think I battled one enemy). If you want something really amazing, check out Valhalla Knights. All the "professional" reviews (i.e. game magazines and websites) have been trashing it, but it's one of my favorites and I've only had time to play for about 30 minutes. As for tactics style RPGs, I hear that the Generation Of Chaos is just ok, and Jeanne D'Arc (or however the French spell it) is supposed to be the one worth waiting for...and of course the re-release of Final Fantasy Tactics is on the horizon.

The Legend of Heroes series has some of the best stories if you ask me...  Blade Dancer: Lineage of Light and Kingdom of Paradise are two others that you should look into.  Jeanne D'Arc is going to be awesome, and hopefully they'll bring Rezel Cross over to the states....it looks fantastic!

The Legend of Heroes is decent enough, but not exactly amazing. It's worth buying though.

1. TALES OF ETERNIA leads by far

popolocrois is quite okay too, it just takes longer to get into it, plays a bit too slow, but very couzy. The storyline is impressive aswell, although it doesn't start off well.

Valkyrie Profile is my favorite by far. Its alittle different than standard turnbased rpgs, but once you get used to what everything is, it is outstanding. The only thing I recommend is that you make sure you pick up a copy that has the manual with it. Mine didn't and it took me a while to figure things out, even with looking at a FAQ. (HP = DME, CP = Skill points, and I think MP (or CPE, again can't remember) = $).
