Eh... had a Wii and a 360 at one point. Wii isn't for me, and the 360, quite frankly, isn't a big enough jump up from last generation for me to be satisfied. I don't have a console at the moment, because I sold those two, and I've decided it's PS3 FTW for me. But I need a price drop OR a while to save up until I get one. :-pmabye christmas...  but just buy it. .. if you cant afford a ps3 you probably should buy a wii:P

2008, but 2007 can have a $100 price drop for these following reasons:
1. Blu-Ray is emerging as the winner, and decreasing in price.
2. The future PS3's will have the Emotion Engine removed to reduce the cost of production and the system.
3. The new 65nm Cell Processors cost less to manufacture.

I've posted this many times.
Right before XMAS guaranteed. I'm guessing around late OCT, early NOV. Here's an excerpt from my 1up.com blog that contains my very valid prediction:
Â
"There's a number of "economic traps" Sony has set that will make the PS3's future almost inevitable. Call these theories, optimistic predictions or what have you, but this WILL happen.
By this time next year, there are going to be HDTV's in almost every home. I can almost guarantee it. The prices are going to drop astronomically this Xmas season. What are the average consumers going to watch on their new HDTV's in order to see its true power? Bluray (We already know that Blu Ray is our future. It's beating out HDDVD 3-1). Sony has already stated that their Bluray player will drop from $1000 to $300 by the end of 2007! What does this mean? This means that all other players could be almost as cheap as $150-275! The PS3 is a competitive Blu Ray player, which means it will have to drop as well. $500 anyone? Think about it, Sony controls the prices of TV's since theirs is considered at the top. If they drop their price, then so will everyone else."
My father also told me that in 2008 a large percentage of cable companies are going to switch their traditional (SD) cable service to HD completely! This means that if you still have an SDTV, you are going to have to get an SD converter. This further solidifies the HD era that is soon going to start, and further validates my prediction of a $500 price point for the PS3.

As a matter of fact, quote me, so that around XMAS you can shoot me down or praise my validity.Â
Also, if you are considering waiting, I wouldn't recommend it. With all of the huge titles coming this XMAS, such as MGS4, DMC4, KILLZONE 2, HEAVENLY SWORD, GTA4, and a number of others--both next gen consoles will probably be scarce, even the 360. The casual gamers are going to come out of the woodwork looking for a console to play GTA4. Both the PS3 and the 360 have games besides GTA, and these games (such as MGS4 and Halo) will determine which one they purchase. Ultimately I believe that the PS3 will have a huge demand, and not enough stock cause it will all hit all at once.
The PS2 sold out every XMAS that GTA was released, and that was when there was a huge supply. Despite what you may think, there isn't that huge of a supply right now cause we're talking about millions of people who want to play just GTA.
