A Metal Gear movie is now in the works... Your thoughts...

This discussion is directed at anyone who is excited over the making of the long awaited Metal Gear movie. You can share any ideas of what story or character elements you think would be needed or would makean MG movie work on the silver screen. To get things started, here are my thoughts...

Whoshould be given the all too important role of Snake (Solid or otherwise)?

Many have said Viggo Mortensen but as good of an actor as he is and as much as he might have the look I can not picture him as Snake. Snake is relatively old for a tactical-military ops man but not Viggo old. Plus, Snake is an extremely agile and muscular individual, something Viggo would have a tough time convincing an audience of. My top two picks for the role of Snake would be...

1. Christian Bale

2. Hugh Jackman

Hugh Jackman is a close second but when I thinkof a character who has the ability to channel a very gritty yet wide array of emotions I can think of no one better then Bale. Some maybe sick of him in a role like this b/c of his work on the set of Batman but he has everything covered on my check list of characteristics thathe shares with Snake.

I've gone on long enough, what do you think?

Well it's all good then :) MGS movie will no doubt deliver and Christian Bale would indeed make a goosd Solid Snake. Also it's good too see Kojima doing the movie with Sony , they're collaborating for the game so why not for the movie

He's still too short, and generally not a good fit for the role.

thats exactly why he should play the role(if raiden is even in the movie). raiden has always been the slightly feminine male lead to real in the ladies. he has played these types of roles before, so he obviously knows how. but it wont be like they are bringing in cujo(sp?) to play him. dicraprio still has a darker side that he shows in his later movies that also applies to raiden(killer as a child, and desparate to hide his past).

The mario movie is pretty old. The guy who played luigi still acts in some big picuteres now adays but every time i see him i think of him as luigi :o

There was a FF movie but it flopped bad, Tomb Raider was a game way before Angelina Jolie played lara croft,

I wouldnt call those the best games ever yet. Those are the best games right now. it takes a while for them to come up with the idea of even making the movie. Hitman is old! and they barely came with a movieTomb Raider was out for a long time before they made a movie. So was resideent Evil. Look how long Metal Gear has been out and they are barely making a movie. I doubt they are making an AC movie i never heard of that, but i wouldnt rule it out if AFTER the TRILOGY of AC is very successful.

The rest of those games you listed if they have longterm success and fans and COULD translate well onto the big screen the might make a movie

I have always thought that MGS would make for a good movie since the game is almost COMPLETELY based off of story, and cut scenes, why not just make it a movie. And they are headed in a good direction already choosing a big name actor like Christian Bale (batman) to be the lead

Now, its important to know that many of theses movies are far from ready. Some of thems dont even have an script, and for others, they only have the franchise rights for the movie, which doesnt mean that a movie may be released.

Hope Christian Bale for playing Solid Snake rumor is true, because I think he will do just fine.

i hope they don't screw it up like with the 2nd Resi film (i liked the 1st one but never saw the 3rd because of the 2nd one)

I would love to see an Elder Scrolls Movie that would be sweet because it wouldn't have to use a character from any of the games plus if the could get the likes of Patric Stewart and Shawn Bean to play roles in the game, it shouldn't be too hard to get some good actors for a film.

Basically this movie need ahuge budget to be a Summer Blockbuster hit... if it's releasing summer of 09. Talented casts and directors.. Kojima will make sure of this. He don't want his long life work go down the drain just because of this one movie.

Also they need to get some no name actor to play some of the other rolls. They only need one star actor and that is for snake. I guess if it is christ Bale thats ok. I would prefer someone that has not been in alot of big rolls you know. just like how K. Reeves is now known as neo. P. Bronson was known as james bond. but I see why they got Bale they got to get the main audience.
