i just bought one to. Two days ago (god of war bundle) I'm very happy with mine, although online surfing is very slow, and very lame, don't bother with it.
I just got my GOW bundle too. I'm pretty sure you cant get viruses. I know ps3 can't and i think this uses the same browser. If you hack it and put windows on it i think you can get viruses. I heard somewhere viruses are written for windows. DOn't know if thats true or not.
No you won't get a virus as the PSP will not be able to read the format. While the surfing is slower than an actual computer, it's nice to have to look up things quickly. Or even when you're just bored. Have fun with your new PSP, you made a good purchase.
edit: You cant hack the PSP to run windows. It would be sorta cool but it just can't be done.
