So, out of nowhere my ps3 no long will run ps2 games. I have the 60gb and I bought it around launch, and it's worked perfectly fine until just recently. It'll read the disc and display it under Games folder, but it won't load up. The screen just remains black. ps1 and ps3 games work perfeclty. Has anyone had this kind of problem before? Am I missing something? Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That' strange, are you sure this happens with all of you PS2 games? no damaged discs?

That's what's so odd. I tried 3 different games and niether worked. There's no sort of error message or anything, just a black screen. It leaves the hud like it would start the game, but remains black and it's got me baffled.

two options

1) send to Sony and get it fixed.

2) go buy a Playstation 2, i'm pretty sure PS2s are like 12 dollars now.

The best I can suggest would be to let it load on that black screen for a little while. I know you said you have a 60g but with my 80, it sometimes will sit on the black screen while I try to load up mgs3. If it keeps happening, then call Customer support for sony :)

well you know they old ps2 you know the big one remember. well they said disc read error. what im thinking is that the ps3s life span is short just like the xbox 360. so there might be another ps3 that is smaller and that lasts longer just like they other ps2s they came out with that are smaller. i really dont know i have the 40g havent noticed any problems yet but. i hope they dont die out becuase we will have to wait for two years so that they will make smaller better life span ps3. just like the small ps2
