What is the lifespan of the PS4 if played up to 3 hours a day almost everyday in a well ventilated area?

I hope it lasts a long time, I´m still worried that I can hear it 20 ft away ( needles to say that at 10 it´s like hearing a F-18 ready to take off from the deck of the Nimitz ).
lol....mine gets like that too, but only after it's been running for a while....other then that it runs fine.
@psfanboyism: 10-20 years....if you store it in a basement might be less.
I had a 3do player I dig out and fire up before i went to asia and worked fine .....until I pluged it into 220 one morning hungover then it went boom...that was 20 years old.
most electrics that fail will fail well within the first year like 4 months just about other wise it the moving parts rule like the cd room that need lube and can dry out but you can fix that.....the hardware lasts a long time normally it the caps that fail first but if they well made Japanese 20 years plus....think of how many things from the old days lasted...I got cd player that's 30 years old that a friend claims is the only one that will last a year and not skip.
So, my gameplay with PS4 is very patchy these days, but if I can, I tend to play it for a good 1-2 hours each night wherever possible. I'll then play a couple of hours over the weekend.
On some rare (and wonderful!) occasions, I'll really have a long gaming session on the weekend - I'm talking like 4-5 hours in one go, pretty much. It happens maybe once a month.
I must say, I'm pretty happy with the quality and performance of the PS4. It's not the quietest system in the world, but that's OK. It gets warm, not hot, and I haven't had any issues with it (and I'm almost a day one PS4 owner).
So you should be pretty much OK. As you say, it's key to make sure the console is well-ventilated. Also - and this may not matter at all - but a lot of the games I play are downloaded rather than on disc, and I wonder if it helps (however minimally) that the disc drive isn't constantly getting a workout (probably is a negligible impact, but still, worth mentioning). :-)
Anyway, you shouldn't really have any problems unless you're very unlucky. That said, if you want more peace of mind, it might pay to review your PS4 warranty and see how long it is for your territory. If your PS4 dies while in warranty period, you could potentially get it fixed or replaced (remember: you'll have one warranty with Sony, and you may also have a warranty with the retailer who you purchased the console from).
As well, give some thought to who your local console repairers are. I've never had a console repaired, but it's worth considering your options just in case.
Best of luck, and happy gaming!
