A Serious Error Has Occured

so i turned my PS3 on and a red screen shows up

in a bunch of other languages it says "A Serious Error Has Occured. Please Contact Technical Support"

so has this happened to any of you?

No I've never run into that problem. How do you know what it says if its in other languages?

well it says it in English as well.. plus a bunch of other languages..

So did you call up sony about it?

Hi there. Your problem is know as the "Red screen of death"

Well, when you have your ps 3 system on stanby with the solid red light and then hold the on/off button till you here a 2nd beep. It should go beep (when you turn it on) then about 3-5 seconds later you should here another one. Then you can take your finger off the button. This resets the display settings. Or you could try the recovery console do the same thing except you continue to hold the ps button passed the soft restart. I think thats 2 quick beeps when you come to it? Don't hold me to it for how many beeps you get but just keep holding the button and you should get to the recovery console. Good luck!

I've had my PS3 Slim for two months and that exact same problem occured. I'm pretty angry actually, I went with Sony because I thought I would be buying a working system (unlike XBOX 360) but I got the opposite.
