Hey there, I just bought a PS3 and have a quick question about the system...I've notced that it tends to get quiet warm and unlike the 360, (which you can hear the fans throughout 2 levels of my house,) I can't really hear much in the PS3...every once in a while I can hear a humming, but don't really know if that's normal. The only game I own if Fight Night Rd. 3 so far, and that game obviously puts the system to work, quite a bit...but I've noticed small amounts of slow-down and stutters, and just wondered if this was normal, or a result of the console overheating. The console is well kept in an open space...No flaming please, this is an honest question.
Yes it's fine, you said the action was dipping at some points? Most likely because of the frame rate within the game. It's fine, my PS3 is usually louder when I play a PS3 game, what your hearing is the PS3 putting on it's extra cooling fans(I heard this takes place 10-15 minutes after you turn it on to keep it in the right tempature). I've had my PS3 on for 12 hours doing Folding@home today, and it's still working. As long as you keep it well ventilated it's fine.
I don't have fight round 3 for ps3 but on the xbox version it slows down. In the gamespot review for the ps3, they said it slows down more often in the ps3 version. so i dont think u have any problems.
You have no worries- those stutters/ slow down are small glitches in the game itself. The PS3 has a rather large fan inside to keep things cool and, as you have noticed, is very quiet compared to other gaming systems. I've had my system left on overnight once or twice doing the Folding@Home and while the system does get a bit warm it is no worse than when doing a gaming session for an hour or so.
Well if it gets extremely warm and stutters then make sure it's not in a small confined place. PS3s really do not overheat. People leave them on over night to fold all the time. But my 360 can't even be on for 6 hours straight without overheating. But PS3s do usually get really warm at the right-rear corner, and that's normal, don't worry about it.
