So I have been playing this game a pretty good bit since I got it (day after it released, though I still haven't completed it, close though). It has been a fantastic game so far, but is it just me, or is it, unlike RE4, sort of ill-paced when it comes to the number of things that can "insta-death" you? I mean in RE4 it was pretty simple, Chainsaw Ganados got you in one hit, occasional Illuminados that had the tentacle from the neck could behead you and maybe some occasional special characters (even then the tentacle wasn't always a one hit kill). But in RE5 it seems like sooo many things kill you so easily.

This is an issue for me because I wanted to get no deaths on record, so obviously I may smudge the rules and restart the console (the lack of a RE4 style save system makes this annoying, but sometimes better). But given that often thats so arduous, I get frustrated. The crocodile area in the Marshlands made me want to break my PS3 because all it took was one lunge while Sheva stood there (in Attack mode no less), the insects in the Uroboros facility (which Sheva seems to never want to attack), this games Chainsaw Mantini (I think thats right), the Beam Puzzle, and various other little things (some bosses too).

Maybe it is just me I don't know. Anyone else feel this way?

I don't mind the insta-deaths in RE5 at all. If anything, they add more challenge to the gameplay in that you cannot just stand there and waste away on your ammo; you have to be mobile and plan your attacks. But I can see where you are coming from.

That is just the thing though. They don't feel challenging they just feel unfair. I have maxed out everything but the capacity on the MP5 (it may be H&K something in the game) and I couldn't kill one of the insect like things (look like the sewer ones from RE4) with 120 rounds of ammo plus M37 rounds. That is just retarded. Not to mention Sheva is too buy putting her thumb up her butt to help me. Then it just walks up to me and shanks me and I die.

It just doesn't seem like a challenge at this point, more like an attempt to just try to convey that feeling.

Hmmm... the only unfair part I found was the insects when they grab and then stab the **** out of you. Other than that, I thought everything else was fine. Crocodiles were awesome, BTW. You just had to maneuver carefully and lure them out of your pathway.

Ah, the Reaper Cockroach insects right? Yeah, I know what you mean, honestly, I hate them too. Lol, the crocodiles were annoying as hell. And the part I'm pissed off about is the Oil Refinery chapter when you take on those Chainsaw Majinis - Sheva just kept getting in his way and got killed in the end. I'm guessing they wanted to make the AI of the enemies smarter, faster, etc. But it really is unfair that Sheva seems to have such a low AI. She burns ammo too much - so you're not alone there.

really i don't mind.. but i play with my buddies and not the computer AI.. i actually find it quite easy not to die, i wish the chainsaw, executioner ect.. were quicker. you would see them about to attack and could easily run away.. professional mode is pretty good, but when you're in a dying state you have like 2 seconds before you're dead, so your teammate has to be literally 3 feet away from you at all times..

as for the crocodiles i have only died by them once, only because my buddy (beat the game prior to me getting the game) told me to run ahead to grab a treasure (told me no enemies) and BAM dead..

Sort of feel this way. I mean RE 5 has really hard enemies. The Axe Majini, the Chainsaw Majini, take way too much ammo to kill. The chainsaw Majini took 30 Handgun rounds 150 machine gun rounds, and at least 20 shotgun shells to drop. Talk about hard.... And yes the giant insects in the Uroboros facility should have never been put in the game..

Yeah and she loves to waste a whole First Aid Spray on you after you have lost a little bit of health. What i did was give her the bare minimum of items so she should survive. No first aid, and very few ammo.

Tell me about it. Not even a Magnum can take them out. Though i found if you focus your fire on that white mass on their chest they tend to go down quickly.

you must be joking.. 2 bullets of the pistol you start with to the head of the chainsaw guys puts them in a stun state then you can melee them and you have to do that like 4 times.. takes 6 bullets for the axe guy and you have to do it 8 times.. not to mention one hit kill with an rpg.. seems like complaints about the games "hardness" revolves almost solely on bad accuracy...

Uhhh. Wow okay. There is a difference between challenge and sheer ridiculousness. The Chainsaw Ganados in RE4 even on Prof. didn't take that much ammo to kill. Sure you can uppercut and all that stuff, but regardless it takes way to much ammo to kill it right out, even with highly upgraded weapons. And who wants to lug around a one use RPG to have ready for a scenario when you have other more useful items. If I put 10 shotgun rounds and 100 SMG rounds plus evnvironmental weapons into one of them, I think they should drop.

I carry 4 weapons (Sniper, Shotty, Handgun, and SMG/Assault) and i don't need my slots occupied by cheap one hit KO weapons.

Yeah I shot it in it's weak spot multiple times with a shotty at point blank range and it still gets up, but Sheva like two shots it with the Dragunov and it dies.... WTH. And is it just me or is the whole "weak spot" thing getting so weak. I mean mix it up, bring some variety in. The boss encounters are so incredibly easy. You just wait for it to expose the spot, and half the time there is something you can do which deals massive damage (Flamethrowers, grenades in the mouth etc). Thats my biggest problem with *** developers, they rarely try to really push the envelope. Once they find a style that is good they stick with it (hell look at Dynasty Warriors). I mean RE4/5 are great, love them to death, but I think there is more they can do.

Use barrels to your advantage .. should never take that long, plus you can do the action and hit them with a high powered melee ..

The giant insects are the only things that gave me trouble at first, but my shotgun took care of them easily ..

I always just aim at the head, and haven't had any trouble with the 'one hit' kill enemies ..

to be quite honnest, i play the game in coop with a friend on veteran mode, and the chainsaw majini, is a formality, all i did was wait for him to come close to me and i would give him a headshot with the shotgun and then melee attack him, it took about 8 shots of shot gun and 8 melee attacks and he was on the floor, and the worse part about that is that my friend was taking care of the zombies and i was left alone killing him. to be quite honnest the enemy i hated the most was the big orc zombie that you beat on the back of the hummer, this one was such a pain in the asss when he was sending the big rock ARGHHH!!!! besides that no bosses really gave us a hard time, we always figured out a strategy. one annoying beast is the flying thingies that comes out of a majini body, god damn if this thing holds you and you dont shake it off quickly, it kills you instantly.

all you have to do to kill those insect things is put down a few proxy mines and walk away, you dont even have to fire a shot, they walk right over them and die. pretty simple if you ask me.
