I'm planning on buying a PS3 and I have some questions. Now that a new 80gb is replacing the current 40gb model, is the previous 80gb model going to be discontinued? Plus, is this ( http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Metal-Gear-Solid-Pack-3/dp/B0014WJ78E/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1219115225&sr=8-1 ) the only 80gb model that is available that has backwards compatibility? Or am I wrong that this model has backwards compatibility in the first place?

Do you guys recommend getting the $499 80gb model over the $399 80gb model for the sake of backwards-compatibility? I already have a PS2, so is it really needed, or does it just make it easier to just bring one system around? Thanks.

You should get the MGS4 Bundle 80 gig NOW. It's gonna get discontinued.

Also, it's not only because of the backwards compatibility. If you think about it it's $40 more. You ALSO get 2 extra USB ports, flash card/SD reader. B/C. It's the best deal out there.

im pretty sure the 80gb overall is completely bc, i recommend the 80 because with all the features of the ps3 you may use alot of room! and with you having a ps2 its totally your call.

the 80 gig has "limited" Backwards Compatability... and since they haven't released the BC/less 80 gig that one does have some backward compatability... i would recomend you look for a 60 gig on Ebay.

the mgs bundle has bc. Plus all the older models. You should pick up the bundle as it will sell out quickly.

Ummm, it still plays 95% of PS2 games out there just fine. MGS4 pack for the win. Sony is gonna drop BC for good, cause they are so damn shortsighted.

Thats is why I say SCEE are unfair once Europe lost the PS3 60GB there was no more PS3 with BC, 4usb ect while SCEA and SCEJ released the PS3 80GB which includes this PS3 80GB bundle.

SCEE should of released the PS3 80GB metal gear solid 4 bundle when SCEA and SCEJ released this bundle.

SCEE are very unfair to Europe, Australia, New Zeland ect.
