I was wondering if there are known models of PS3 more suceptible to get the YLOD. When I bought my ps3 it did not make loud noises due to the fans, but now I moved and this room get... a lil bit hot and now my PS3 just kick in the fan at max and it wont go back down even when I put nexto it a big fan for interiors aiming to it.

It is clean, nooo dust!! but where i live i dont get any support from sony at all.... if i wanted to support i had to buy the ps3 here in mexico and not in the us (as i did).

So i was just wondering... xbox released the falcon chipsets and i believe jaspers which took care of the red ring blah blah and brought the costs down. Are there any known faulty models of ps3 or just random due to the low %?

Well, all I know it's that the rate of getting a YLOD it's very low, I've got a problem yesterday with my ps3 , It don't want to read any disc and also I have the same problem that there is no Sony support in my country(Peru) except for some locals that are authorized by sony to deal with technical issues but obviously you have to pay. All i recommend you it's to play moderately, keep it free from dust and play without worries as if it will never broke. Good luck.

Yes, few peoples 60GBs are going .. mine has yet to ..

I think it's totally random, regardless of what some people may think ..

I just got it yesterday, 2 weeks since I fixed the blu ray drive problem.

I'm still under warranty but it's definately BS i had the 40GB by the way.

It just randomly shut off and was blinking red until i pressed the on/off button in the front then it just remained red in stand by, i turned it back on later everything was fine, after i shut it down that time it never turned on since, it would go blue n green and then yellow, and then blinking red. can't even get my disc out.

Its not always 60 gig mostly but I just had two friends one with 40 and 80 or both with 40 get the YLOD. One thing that seems in common is lots of hours of play. One lives in Boston and other lives in Oklahoma

Yeah too many hours of play is a common factor in YLOD......I just had mine bite the dust about 2 weeks ago. I had to get a new one cause Sony couldn't fix it so they replaced my old one with a new one. Now I keep my play time to a minimum, 2-6 hours a day max. Heat can also be a factor, just keep it dust free and put the PS3 in the upright position (if you can) to cut back on the heat issues.

It seems to be mostly the 60GB models that get YLOD.

When i gave mine into Sony they said the 60gb was more susceptible to the YLOD.
