I just noticed some of the rumors of a PSP2 coming out into the market. I am currently a major DS fan, but I am more so a hand held gamer than anything. I love playing on the go, where ever I feel comfortable, and I love having some of my favorite games in my pocket.

I am on the brink of buying a PSP, what has stopped me is the rumor of a 2nd PSP. I realize that the current version out right now is 3000, and I will be picking that up (from ebay or a friend, no worries I've done my research)

Do you suggest I pick up a psp? I love tactics, action rpgs, and I even think i'll be picking up vahalla knights (ZOMG!!!)

PSP owners: Do you think it's a good idea to pick up now or wait until later?

wow, after looking into what the psp2 is rumored to be, i would definately hold off. the only possible disadvantage to that would be cost. something that awesome would have to sell above $200. besides, you already have a ds

I think it's unlikely we'll see the PSP 2 until at least 2010. But the PSP-4000 will probably be out later this year. I definately recommend getting a PSP but maybe it would be wise to wait until E3 where Sony will probably reveal the 4000. Or if you don't really care about that, just get one now.

Well i have the original PSP and it's great! Loads of great games and lots of fun to be had with it! I'd hardly call it heavy or bulky! It fits into my skinny jeans pockets with minimal trouble!

Buy one, for pretty cheep!

I'm actually thinking of purchasing the original PSP. Model 2 and 3 look like light-weight cheap plastic product after trying them out. I like the bulkiness of the phat PSP and it really is not all that different. I would go for it and not worry about what will be out later in the future.

Thanks for the advice!! I'm thinking about getting it online. Currently there is one with 6 games, 3 or 4 of which I will play, that I'm gonna try to get for 200.

I just wish their'd be some ground breaking games for it coming out.

I'm also looking to get one but I think waiting until E3 is a good idea. If they announce a new model that is impressive enough I'll hold off.. also they could announce a price drop on the current model so if you have the patience why not wait?

I don't think they'll announce a price drop any time soon, if their is rumor of one I will probably hold off. They also JUST game out with the 3000. I don't think there is going to be another coming out.

^ Indeed. I bought the Silver PSP 3000 and it's amazing. I love playing Resistance: Retribution online on it.

Just get it. Even though they turn out to be true, we don't know how long we'd have to wait for a PSP2. You'll miss out on a lot of great games if you don't get a PSP now. We don't know if there will be backwards compatibility with the PSP2.

Well it isn't like the old models wouldn't be available if that were the case so missing out isn't really an issue

Also I heard that LittleBigPlanet is coming out for the PSP.

I was in the same shoes you are in about a year ago. Luckily enough I had good friends that went all in and bought me a PSP for my birthday. And after doing some minor modifications to my PSP, it is the most wonderful toy I could have. I would recommend getting a PSP for yourself, especially if you are a DS lover.

I think you should just go ahead and get the Daxter bundle. It has a ll the basic needs for the PSP and plus you get a game and a UMD movie plus a 1 gb memory stick. All those things about the PSP2 are just romours, and even if there was a psp2 coming out, there would at least be notification from sony that ther going to have a press conference or something.

If you really are that much in to handheld gaming then I would buy the PSP. There are tons of great games you'll like right now. The PSP2 will probably have 1-2 games that are worth playing at launch. And we still don't know if it'll be out this year.
