**** YES! THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!

At last, Ace Combat will by flying to PS3s (and 360s) - rebirthed and made even more ridiculous.

TRAILER HERE, GODDAMN!

For all of you skeptics, Project Aces Team has never produced a bad Ace Combat game... ever. This is exactly why Ace Combat is my favorite series of all time.

Anyone else excited?

Wasn't Project Aces responsible for The Unsung War? That was pretty bad.

Your lack of confidence in your post along with the fact that Unsung War was arguably the best damn Ace Combat game ever made is evidence enough that you either didn't play the game, or you're getting it confused with something else.

Whatever the situation, I'm just going to respond with: no.

QFT.. Unsung War was easily my favorite out of the entire series despite the lack of multiplayer.. even AC6 was decent.. i pretty much bought a 360 for it!, well that and Mass Effect I can't express how excited i am for this!!!

Yes, finally, a good looking flight/action game. Now I'll be able to get my aircraft fix from this game instead of COD's killstreaks. :P

You enthusiasm pleases me. :D But yeah, I'm willing to spend HUNDREDS of dollars just for a special flight stick edition of this. I'm actually about to buy a 360 just for Ace Combat 6 since a PS3 port looks to be out of the question at this point. Seriously, I don't know a single other game series which gets me as exhilarated as Ace Combat. At first, I was a little worried that there might be a lack of super-units, (Arkbird, Morgan, Hresvelgr, Aigaion, etc), but then I realized that there's no way Project Aces would not put them into this game - it's a freaking Ace Combat game!

Yeah i will spend whatever it takes to get a flight stick edition of this game... I tried to wait it out for a port as well... but about a year ago i finally caved.. it was really great.. not the best in the series but just playing an AC game with such fantastic detail was worth it... I still gotta re-buy all the PS1 AC games... I think i'll go do that now!

The Ace Combat games pretty much never stick with one protagonist, let alone the same decade on the timeline. This game is set in the real world to some degree with a few twists, just like Joint Assault on the PSP. So yeah, expect a brand new universe, brand new story, brand new characters.

Very excited. I was playing Ace Combat 5 a while back, and despite having a couple years on it, it is still an amazing game.

I'm excited but lets hoping the online stuff won't get in they way of SP quality and that QTE made me worried.

They are using real world theme. I'm a little bit sad about all that fiction country and company are gone. There is a huge story gap between last AC and AC 3: Electro Sphere. It's interesting to see how certain company collapsed and the rest of them form General Resource LTD (Belkan's Grunder Industry) or Neucom Inc. (Erusian Air Space & Administration). Don't know what will happen to fight with ridiculous super weapon as well maybe Project Aces can think of something.

The first button prompt was when the F-22 was being tailed. What followed was a slo-mo aerial back flip that allowed the F-22 to gun the tailer down.

This seems to be a much flashier version of the Tactical Maneuver Command from The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces where if you were in a certain radius of a bogey, you build up a meter that makes your plane do some crazy acrobatics to be right on the bogey's six.

It wasn't a simple quick time event where you had to mash triangle like crazy. It demanded that you fulfilled conditions before you could do the flip. The triangle prompt was simply telling you to press triangle once you're outside of the enemy's shooting circle (which is what the plane seems to try to do before maneuvering out of the range).

The second prompt pops just before Akula's missile hit the F-22. No idea if that could've dodged the missile or if it was the reason we got the fancy eject animation instead of death. It could also be a prompt telling you to eject, and can probably even be turned off if you want the interface prompt-free.

Basically, those prompts were nothing more than to show you what buttons to press at which situations to do a critical action.

-

But yes, I second the single player > online comment in priority. Don't worry though, Project Aces is always known to deliver some great single player experiences. Also, the radio chatter also gives a lot of clues on some great boss-characters you'll have to face off against in the game (Akula in this case, kinda like Yellow 13).

As for the "real world" comment, yes, I'm sad that their awesome fictional world was scrapped for now, but on the brightside, Joint Assault on the PSP also takes place in the real world and has crazy super weapons.

In my opinion, an AC game are known for the following:

  • Fantastic audio-video presentation, with fantastic and exhilarating scores
  • Lots of radio chatter
  • Boss units and super units
  • Unrealistic battles (missles everywhere, helicopters doing barrel rolls, planes flying between buildings and way too close to eachother)

While I was skeptical at first, I'm looking forward to what's to come. No matter what, I have complete faith in Project Aces.

I've no idea about Sky Crawler had a game, I did watch its anime with shocking anti-climax ending but I'll take a look at some Sky Crawler's gameplay for better understanding. I've to lower my expectation now and anticipate changes in AC series for better or worse. I don't want any disappointment like Hawx.

From what i heard from some ac vets was, the last AC to come out on the 360 only, was NOT good compared to the ones that were on the ps2/1. I never played it myself though, as i don't own a 360.

Your lack of confidence in your post along with the fact that Unsung War was arguably the best damn Ace Combat game ever made is evidence enough that you either didn't play the game, or you're getting it confused with something else.

Whatever the situation, I'm just going to respond with: no.

I actually have played the game, multiple times. I haven't played AC5 in a long long time, though and I couldn't remember if Project Aces was before or after AC5. Perhaps bad wasn't the right word. I should have used "weaker". I found the story to be lacking in quality and the supporting characters to be annoying to no end.

HA! have fun with that! Or try to, when everyone else is going to be playing the better and far more intense game. If you're a Tom Clancy fanboy, then seriously... it's not worth it to go that distance to "rebel".

Falcon 4.0 was amazing. It took them long enough, but it cames out nice. But those are two different kinds of games. AC is a arcade-flying shooter while Falcon is a full on flight sim.

Been a big Ace Combat fan in the past. Played both HAWX games because I enjoy the genre. Honestly though just based off the trailer I'm not sure I'm all for the direction the game seems to be going. QTE Dogfighting? Radically zoomed in camera? I'm gonna have to see more gameplay to convince me on this one.
