IGN REVIEW
IF you read the rev. than you know that the solo campain s**ks and the multiplayer is worthwhile. So is it acctually worth the money than? Give me you thought about this rev.
P.S. Can you use the mic. in the game?

[QUOTE="Daavpuke"]I've never liked any of the Ace Combat series, nor do I understand why anyone would, so that score seems plausible. As far as your question: If you play multiplayer often, the singleplayer experience should be less important to you.rubediskyAce combat x skies of deception got an 8.5. It's a fun game. The only thing I don't understand is that everyone says that the ds has a good game libary. But that's totally not true IMO! Saying that DS dosent have good libary mean's nothing else than that you admit being ignorant.
If you liked "Ace Combat X" then you're gonna like this game... Reviews are simply opinions, fans should add at least 1.5 points to any "Out of Ten" score... this game is lots of fun and I don't play MP, I only play Campaign, so my review ("It Rocks!") is more important to FANS. If you don't dig the genre, of course you'll find fault.
Haters Gonna Hate.
i was a huge fan of skies of deception. to be honest i did not really enjoy the campaign of joint assault that much. for someone who does not play psp games online or through infrastructure, it was just another game. i didn't really find anything amazing about this. it felt more of the same old that we got in skies of deception. i would not recommend this game to anyone who does not play multiplayer either. just because it felt more of the same to me.
I got the game and I do like it actually. The story isnt as good as ACX but I still found it enjoyable. I guess this game was made to hold us over for Assault Horizan.
To me, getting more of what "Ace Combat X" had to offer is right on target. Complaining about an AC game is like saying "I don't like Final Fantasy (number whatever) because it's an RPG just like the last one".
This is a jet combat game where you dogfight and eliminate ground targets, and eventually there are boss fights... just like all of the other AC games out there on PS, PS2, XB360, etc. and if those games are in your library (like they are on MY shelf) then you know the plot is going to be recycled... there's a bad nation who's not playing well with others and needs a little missle up the kazoo.
Now... Strap on the oxygen mask, grab the flight stick, and KILL them Fascist ****. Y'know?
I am always impressed with the series and this game is no exception. ESPECIALLY on the PSP, which has very few decent flight games. The last fair-to-good flight combat on the PSP was "IL*2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey" which was a bit unpolished but fun... this at least is shined up and feels like a complete game. I'm glad it continues to deliver the goods. I may even get online with it. I have been wantin' to get a game in with ya for awhile, Rube!!!
:D
Where-abouts in the world are you, my friend? I'm in California these days... Where the women are as pretty as the weather! We should try to hook up for a few games.
I will buy it when it gets cheap enough. But you can't talk online or can you?To me, getting more of what "Ace Combat X" had to offer is right on target. Complaining about an AC game is like saying "I don't like Final Fantasy (number whatever) because it's an RPG just like the last one".

I don't have a mic so I don't know...
... but a tip for when you do: Set the controls to 'Expert', otherwise it basically auto-levels you and doesn't allow the plane to perform Immelmann Turns, etc. I've been playing the campaign on 'Hard' setting from the get-go because I've been playing these games forever, but the AI seems pretty good and the graphics are fantastic. I just pulled out of a dive and juuuust BARELY managed to get my plane through two close-set buildings in downtown Tokyo... that was fuuuun!
8)
The voice acting is pretty cheesey, so I have them turned down a bit and the muzak OFF... in real dogfights, there is no bumpin' techno jams. You start out with the usual F-4E Phantom, but after completing levels on various degrees of difficulty players unlock better weapons for sale and parts for planes just like "ACX".
Is it formulaic? Absolutely. Does it play as well as others in the series? Absolutely. Is it ACX with a paint job (from blues to reds, predominantly)? Absolutely.
And that's a GOOD thing.
[QUOTE="Promised_Trini"]you mean totally don't agree with this rev.?Well thats a review I stopped listening to reviewers a long time ago.

No, that's not what the poster said, it's more about making up your own mind. The problem facing lots of games today is that we as a community have given the power of life & death to reviews, and if a review lauds a game it's future is assured, but if the thumb turns down that game will rot a quick corpse on shelves, and that's sort of wrong.
Wrong, because gaming is open to interpretation like art... and what one player sees another may not. If you read that IGN review, what is said is honest perception. There's nothing wildly off the mark, but the way it's worded would really sour me on the game before I had played it, if I weren't a fifteen year fan of the series. I had a similar situation with my love of "Tiger Woods Golf", and "NASCAR" games over the years. Every year the games would get reviewed, and every year I would hear about how Tiger was too hard (frustrating putting, etc), and how "NASCAR" was too boring. Every year I would buy the games against review. And every year I would find cool changes and further polish to Tiger as well as new courses, and most years I would dig the changes to the "NASCAR" franchise (though EA Sports could sometimes throw a wrench in the works, so to speak). Often, the reviewer would even say (especially in a NASCAR game) that they weren't fans of the actual sport or some-such qualifier as to why they made their hillbilly jokes and "Drive Fast, Turn Left" apraisals of how boring stock car racing was to them instead of reviewing the GAME. So, when those games came out I stopped reading reviews for them.
After awhile, I just started doig that for games of ALL genres I was interested in. And I found that I played more games and was more happy because of it. There's nothing wrong with reviews up to a point, technically, (if a game is broken, it's broken and there-for unplayable) but when it comes to interpretation of the material presented, they should filter what they say. Games can hold a lot of little things for each different gamer and you never know, the reviewer might be going through a divorce when he wrote that review of "Lara Croft" and he wants ALL women dead & buried...
That's sort of why I put my post up, about the game being a lot of what ardent fans want - More missions with the same polish "Ace Combat X" had. If you're a big fan of the series, this game is going to please you. You can turn off the bad voice acting. You can turn off the bad music. You can turn the controls to 'Expert' because you know how to fly these birds, the control settings where you want them, and the difficulty up to 'Hard'... the plot? Knock their planes out of the sky. There are things the reviewer may not be tweaking to make the game the best it can be for their play-through, because at the heart of it they just don't care deeply enough about hte game or it's genre to be in a position to pass judgement. Keep it in mind when reading anyone's assessment...
Even mine!
The graphics are excellent for the platform, and together with the gameplay it's a continuing showcase for what can be accomplished on the system. Is the voice acting embarrassing? Yes it is. But you can turn that down (or off). If flying jets is fun for you and it passes the time waiting for the commuter bus - Or better-yet, REMOVES you mentally from having to ride that bus - Then you'll dig "Joint Assault".
Cheers, all!
