If I'm not mistaken, Mr. Harrison mentioned something about things being unlocked in Home from playing PS3 games. He showed some stuff like the Resistance wallpaper. If there are other things like pieces of furniture or clothing items for Home avatars, those will be WAY better than achievements or trophies! Think of it like this. You could beat Killzone 2 on the highest difficulty and get a Hellghast suit as your avatar's clothing. They could even take it further allowing for things like a Chimera skin complete with Rage mode if you're in the top 50 of Resistance. This not only serves the purposes of achievements and trophies (showing your online friends that you accomplished difficult tasks), but it also adds more varitey to Home.

Phil talked about that also in the new interview. He said some devs might even add costumes or items to their games as rewards for doing certain things.

i was never a big fan of the acheivement thing, the way it was done on the box, with points. it just didnt do it for me for something as simple as points, but then again, even back in the day with all the old arcade games, points werent that big a deal for me, like centepede, pacman, dig dug, points didnt matter to me in those games, same as they dont now. but this kinda stuff, its kinda fun, cause you can have the cool looking outfits and wall papers hanging around, or wear em, it seems like something tangible that you can have for doing well. i like it.

i would rather have achievements any day of the week rather something stupid shirt for an avatar to wear. that is good sony is incoporating trophies into the ps system. Achievements are addictive and i'm sure trophies if done right will be too but not as good as achievements in my opinion.

I first thought achievement points were something you gain to trade into virtual $$

like trading points to purchase downloadable games or trade it to pay your Xbox Live fees.

But it seems like it's just points, which I think is pointless.

nice idea but along with that I'd like to get a physical trophy. Like if you beat resistance you get a chiamera skull trophy like on the cover of the game. I'd like a different trophy for each difficulty setting and co-op difficulty settings.

I like that idea more than trophies. I dont think the trophy thing is a great idea. Lets say you have what 10-20 achievement trophys per game, you play what say 10-20 games. I'm not sure people or myself are gonna wanna look around a room filled with that many trophies. I'd rather just scroll down and see what I've achieved or a friend has acheived. Its a neat idea but its gotta be implemented well.

no its actually when you complete a game or at least get an achievment in it, you get a 3D trophy. some may have audio or visual aspects to it aswell, E.G completing killzone you may get a video of a helghast running or shooting. or a 3D model of one.

Having a trophy to hang on your virtual mantlepice or clothing from the main character in the game you just completed would be sweet. You could walk around the community areas and other people could see that you completed a certain game. It would help to find like minded friends quicker as well making long winded game lobbies a little easier. Xbox Gamerscores are okay up to a point but after a while you realise that there are millions of people with a better score than you and then it gets tiresome. However having a medal that you can wear for completing, for example ten FPS, would be more unique than someone having a better score than you just because he played lots of cheap (easy to collect achievements) games.

There will always be somebody with similar medals or more medals just like XBLive achievements. I dont really think virtual achivements, medals or trophies are that great or exciting especially surrounding the interface of the system. I much prefer it to be interfaced in the game. I'd rather see Game Developers making Clan Lobbys/rooms with their trophies and stuff just to the individual game. Having a room for all games will get cluttered and pointless and a mess just like MS Achievement points. I think this isnt gonna work.

Home is going to be awesome, but it is pretty funny how long it took Sony to realize how achievements keep some people (not all) interested in games. I was never going to buy a PS3 game but I may now because of the new trophies and the fact that you get stuff free on home when you do it.

I wouldn't say it took Sony a while to realize that people liked achievements. Home has been in the making for years. They most likely started on it before 360 was even released, just as MS probably started the new XBL way back when Halo 2 came out.

I don't think the Hall of Fame would ever get cluttered because it sounds like you'll be able to choose which trophies to show off. I imagine there'll be a list of things you've accomplished that people can access, but they'll also be able to see the trophies you wanted to show. Either that, or not every accomplishment will bring about a trophy.

I agree that Metal Gear costumes would be orgasmic. I would love to be in my apartment wearing a sneaking suit.
