Whatever happen to this genre of games?

Remember the double dragons, Teenage Mutant ninja turtles, battletoads, final fight, streets of rage, spiderman and venom, xmen, etc...

I mean these use to be my favorite games and now they dont even exist. With the tech we have now and how well they did games like uncharted and ninja gaiden and Devil may cry I would hope they would make a game where you could at least play those type of games online together.

If not could they just put those games I just listed back from the day on the PSN for download with a co op option... oh yea along with nba hangtime...lol :)

Those were the days, now it's all first person shooters. The least they could do is have some First Person Action Adventure with co-op. I mean if EA can make Mirror's Edge, why can't everyone else make something different without guns as well?

I totally agree. I would love a new Double Dragon game for sure. That was my favourite series on the NES

I mean online is cool and all, but nothing beats those experiances we had on all those action adventure games on the SNES and sega... nothing... and you know whats funny those games were so simple.

I mean it is a simple concept people love martial arts beat em ups, but for some reason all I see is FPS and I am tired of them.

Revamp the final fight series, the double dragon series, etc

And if they want to make a new ninja turtles game bring it back to Konami cause they knew what they were doing.

Turtles in time, oh yea and tmnt tournament fighters...

Adventure is a forgotten genre. Everything now involves shooting stuff and being showered with blood and gore as the result. The only good co-op games now are the Lego ones, and those are getting old and they've always been ridiculously easy.

Yeah man I know exactly what you're talking about. Those games you listed back in the day were the best. Most fun had playing co-op.

Yeah I can't tell you how many times my friend and I beat Streets of Rage 1 and 2, and TMNT Arcade, and Spiderman Venom, and some X-men game.

But there are a select few games like this still out. For the PS2 for example they had X-Men Legends, and its sequel. And for the PS3 they have Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I had a lot of fun playing this game with my brother a while ago.

Oh and lets not forget, LETS NOT FORGET, the Gauntlet series. I played one on PS2 a while back and that was fun. We had 3 players at once. It'd be nice if they came out with another one of those.

untold legends dark kingdom for ps3 might be worth looking into although it didnt really get such good review scores.

there's also dark alliance 1 and 2 and champions of norrath 1 and 2 for ps2.

I have been hopping Ratchet and Clank Future 2 would bring back multiplayer, especially co op. One of my favorite parts of Deadlocked was the co op even though it made the game too easy at times.

I hear ya. I love playing co-op games with friends/family, and since I don't have an outrageously fast internet connection in rural Montana, split screen or same screen (LOTR:Return of the King type) games will have to work. Unfortunatley developers assume EVERYONE is online and don't put local multiplayer into many games anymore. But to answer the question; yes. I still play older co-op games, and quite enjoy them, we need more co-op. Always more co-op. :)>
