No, the price drop would have occurred with or without Activision's "threat". I'm sure Sony had planned it long before Activision made those comments. Doolz2024
you probably right didnt even think bout that lol
How do we know for sure? All we can do is speculate.
It would make sense though, because I remember reading somewhere that Sony was going to host dedicated servers for Modern Warfare 2 despite it being muli-platform.
It's highly unlikely that Activision had anything to do with the recent price cut. SONY had this planned long before Bobby Kotick decided to make a fool of himself.
If it did have an effect they R& Ded that Slim pretty darn fast I mean what preped and ready in like 3 months? Wow activision really has the pull in this market that Bobby wants.
P.S. If you could not tell I was being sarcastic and I believe that activision had no part in it at all and it was being worked on way way before that.
Absolutely. Thank you Activision for setting Sony straight. Now I hope EA threatens themtoo .....the ps3 will be down to $199 within months!Nike_Air
I'm assuming this is sarcasm.
I dont think so becasue with hardware it must have been in develoment since at least late last year. i think it is just timing.
Sony was probably planning this waaaaaaayy before that Activision threat.deathxxshark
yep, pretty much

I don't think the threats worked. My guess is that Sony had been planning on this price drop before Activision made their threats. Think about it, look at all of the great games that Sony is releasing in the next couple months (I'm not going to list all of them). The more consoles that are out on the market, the more games they sell. It was an excellent plan on Sony's part. Now was the perfect time for them to drop the price
No... Activision threat was pointless. Were they going to drop Call of Duty from the PS3? It still sold what like 3 mil copies on it? I think Sony just like everyone saw a really big flaw in Activision's logic... of course they probably think this happened because of them because apparantly they are just that ignorant (sorry all my hate of EA has moved to Activision... all my hate for anything has moved to them).
But no they didn't right now was the time they were ready to announce the Slim and they were waiting for it to announce a price drop.
pfft no i doubt it. Sony's guys even called Kotick an idiot for doing so. they always had this planned, there were already leaks of this slim 3 months ago when everyone thought it was fake.
It probably would of hurt CoD sales more than anything, Activision making false threats.. Their pathetic.
[QUOTE="Nike_Air"]Sony. i guess you weren't being sarcastic. now you're just stupid. You sir, now that was a simple but effective and true statement good job.[QUOTE="blank33"]
Who would ever listen to Activision?
shani_boy101
If AV quit support for PS3 Sony would be in huge trouble and a lot of other companys would likely follow. You would see a lot less support for PS3 is AV did that.I don't think so. I highly doubt that. Sony really don't have to listen to them if they don't want to.
Furi-Kun
Yes, and they developed the PS3 Slim just for Activision's sake too. :roll:nero_rules
ahahahaha, yes they did :P !
post of the day :D ( so far )

LOL you are right. Forget Activision... they need sony, more than sony needs them. LMAO
I don't think that was an idle threat... if PS3 sales remain flat, Activision will most likely make good on their threat to drop PS3 support... fortunately for Sony, $299 PS3's should stimulate enough consumer interest to keep them in the game...It probably would of hurt CoD sales more than anything, Activision making false threats.. Their pathetic.
