No real point in the last year, all Sony keeps introducing is small additions to the support format list with regards to media, and implementing features that 90% apply to stuff that only ever gets released in Japan.
There's also the Skype update recently, but you need the Slim PSP for that.
(why Sony couldn't just offer a version that runs off the mem-stick for us launch-PSP owners is beyond me...)
I personally only update when a game requires me too, and that's it.
Dude, having custom fireware is OUTSTANDING!!! I have a PHAT and my son has the SLIM. Both PSPs have CFW. My PHAT can control my T.V. (any T.V.) and you can play Playstation 1 games (I'm currently playing Resident Evil 2 Dual Shock). You can also play NES, SNES and N64 games. i got HALO 2 going on here. These are things you can't do with a regular PSP without CFW.
