I can't seem to successfully put mp3s on my psp. Everytime i try, the psp plays the song for about 30-50 seconds and than stops or cuts into another song that i put on the psp...basically a corrupt file. Its everytime. Its not just songs i downloaded either, I'm trying to put songs from my cd collection as well. I'd ask help for video too, but I'd like to get the music part down first. I downloaded dvd decrypter and video player 9 and still cant get video on my psp. But forget video. If i knew putting music or video on a psp would be such a pain in the ass, i never would have bought the psp. I would have just stuck with my iriver clix. Thanks to anyone that can help

I've never had problems with mp3's on my psp. They've always played perfectly. Mine are from a variety of sources, but mostly cd rips. Not sure what your problem is. Wonder if your mem card is bad?

Getting videos onto the psp, now that sux.

Good luck figuring this one out. Let us know what the problem was when you do figure it out.

No clue. You got a PSP just for videos and music? I didn't even care about those. I bought it for the games lol.

Did you leave your MP3 files in the J:/PSP/Music folder (the J is for the PSP device, it can be E or F or G ....)? 8)

Well it sounds as if it could be a problem with a card, but lets see what we can try.

I would try these things:

-turn off psp, remove battery, wait 30 seconds. Restart psp, then try.

no luck?

-copy everything on the memory card to the computer, format the card using the psp, then replace everything that you had copied from the stick, and then try.

If the psp is still acting funny then there really might be a hardware problem. The question is, whether it is the psp or the mem stick. To test this I would try playing a song or video from the card on the computer. If the song/video plays correctly and you are using the psp as the card reader for the computer, then this would make me think it is a software problem after all. In that case, I would suggest updating the firmware, and then having another shot. If the song/video does not work in this situation, that doesn't really tell you anything - instead you will have to connect the card to the computer with out the psp.

If the song/video plays and you are using something other than the psp to connect the card to the computer, then I think there is a chance there is a problem with the card reader in the psp. If the song/video does not play as it should then I think you can safely assume there is a problem with the card.

Now of course these tests are less than definite since the way the media player on your computer works is most likely different from the way it works on the psp. But it is worth a shot since it seems you haven't found too many options so far.

You have to make sure you labelled everything corectly as instructed on the manuel, for example, for music the folder you use for music must be labelled MUSIC, same goes for vids and pics (VIDEO)

first things first. 1. i am hooking up my psp to my computer via a usb cable. 2. i took out the battery for a minute or two than rebooted the system...same thing happened, no music. 3. I saved all my psp files to my computer hard drive. 4. I formatted my mem card 5. Same thing happened, my mp3s wont work. 6. Once the songs were on my psp, i opened up the file on my comp and tried to play it and yet it is still messed up. 7. I tried copying my game saves back onto my reformatted psp and the game saves wont load....it says corrupt file on my psp. all my game saves are gone. 8. I dont know what else to do.

Well it sounds like a hardware problem. But whether it is the card or the psp we won't be able to tell, until you try accessing the card through something other than the psp.

My guess though is that it would be the card. As for your saves, I think they may still be intact, it is just not possible to correctly write to the card. So keep those saves on your hard drive.

Perhaps there is a problem with the USB port, USB cable, or computer you are using. Since it seems odd that your games were able to save successfully, but anything that comes from your computer does not. So try another USB port, cable, or computer.

Another thing you could try to test whether it really is a problem with the USB port or computer, is to surf the web using the psp and download an mp3 or video via the psp's browser. If that downloaded file works than you can confidently say that the problem lies externally.
