Hello!

Someone made a thread about 'Heavy Rain', where someone raised a rather good point about a lot of mainstream games being shoot'em ups. I had a look at my game collection and realised that they all involve killing! Surely that can't be healthy!

The poster also mentioned some story-driven titles that are available to import, namely Aquanaut's Holiday and Afrika (Hakuna Matata). I did a little bit of research I they both look very good, very pretty, interesting concepts, something that I could spend time leisurely exploring as opposed to making things go boom.

I looked up both Aquanaut's Holiday and Afrika, and on www.play-asia.com they're both available in an English/Chinese version. Overall I think Afrika looked better, and its a little cheaper at approx. £32. Now I know that Sony-published titles are region-free so I should have no trouble running it on my console in the UK, but I'm still a little bit apprehensive of importing, and I've got a few questions first.

Firstly, has anyone purchased/played Afrika? I'd definately buy it on the impressions I have off the web, but what are YOUR thoughts on it? What can I expect from this game?

Secondly, about the language. It's listed as being 'English/Chinese', I presume that its at least subtitled in English. That's fine, but I'm just worried I'll buy a game in a language I can't understand if I get the wrong version! Would this be the correct language version for me?

Thirdly, they don't ship to the EU, I assume that includes me in the UK, if it does then I would have to have it sent to my g/f's friend in Canada, then forwarded to me... this will hurt my wallet! I don't mind if it'll be worth it, what experiences has anybody else had with import games like this?

Overall I feel really excited about Afrika, it looks like something totally different to anything I've played recently, and I'm actually considering using my Killzone 2 funds to buy it with! Most of my current games are shooters, and though I enjoy them I feel like a change, something a little more immersive and story-driven.

Thanks for any help!

The very same game will be released in the EU/US title "National Geographic: Afrika" or something like that.

The bad thing is no one knows when the game will be released. If you want to go through the trouble importing it and spending the extra money, that's up to yourself.

If you want a relaxing game I really recommend the downloadable title Flower, you can get it on the PSN store for 6.29GBP, one of the best games the PS3 has to offer.

Yeah I'm getting Flower too! It looks amazing!

It would be cool if the game does get released over here. I'm just worried that as amazing as Killzone's graphics and physics are, the game will bore me once I've finished the campaign. Whether I play through it twice, or play online, its still the same making stuff go boom. I felt like a radical change.

Every single game i have involves killing except the games that came with my 360. Whats wrong about that? You don't have homicidal thoughts do you??

May I add, if I was in this position I would buy Killzone 2 over Afrika. I realise your sick of shooters and whatnot, but I wouldn't buy a game that consists of taking pictures of animal over of the best titles to be released in 2009. That's just my opinion though.

Oh make no mistake I WILL be getting Killzone 2, at some point. The demo was mightily impressive. But the last 5-6 games I've bought were shooters! So if I find myself getting bored of one, I haven't really got an alternative. I could get Afrika on import and then Killzone 2 the following month.

Ah, I see. Maybe you could hold of until the game comes out in the UK and in the meantime immerse yourself in Flower then in two weeks play Killzone 2 and pop some Heleghast. Also, if you don't have LittleBigPlanet, I recommend that, watching Sackboy smile is quite relaxing.

They sell this game in my country, around 80 plus I would definitely buy it if it wasn't so expensive.

Yeah, LittleBigPlanet is great if you haven't and what Canned suggested sounds good; Flower and others for a month (oh wait, 12 days, woo!) till Killzone 2 and then get Afrika on import. That way you'll get to play Flower and Killzone 2; 2 great games; and not be sick of shooters as they're is plenty of other games that don't involve shooting. Although the majority is shooting :P

I actually think I'll go for LBP then... I've been meaning to get it for a while, and it'll be cheaper than importing something I'm not sure of.

Now I just need to get the wages I'm owed tomorrow! Then everything will fall into place!
