I've had my PSP for about one week now, and I think I've played on it for more time than I did with any games on my Nintendo DS after having that for about a year. I feel stupid for not having gotten one sooner -- awesome console, awesome capabilities. Some killer titles coming out for it too in the next few months, and very good back catalogue. Anyone who is considering getting one, just do it!

That's exactly how I feel, I also have a psp and ds. Sure there are some fun games on the DS but I don't play them that often and that long, most of them become boring quite quickly. The PSP has in my opinion cooler games that last longer.

I was the same way about the PSP I used to have. You'll soon stop playing it, and after a few months wonder why you have it.

I beg to differ.

I've had it for about a year, and I still use it everyday.

I don't wonder why I have it?, because I know I bought it gumbo! I also have a DS & the top 20 games for both the handhelds. I can't say how the DS sells comparing the games on both systems DS games have no depth they are just pick up & play & if you're gonna make a transition from home console to portable the DS feels very different it's like playing games when it was the NES era w/c I don't like much, I'm more of a Playstation era gamer, Don't get me wrong but I like some classics too.

I play my psp almost daily and I've had it about 6 months. I love it because I can bring it to work and it's much easier to lug around than my slim ps2. (Which I still bring to work sometimes!) Yes, I know, I have an awesome job. I'm a 3rd shift security guard at a trucking company. I just sit in a guard shack and play video games all night. Back on topic, though, the PSP is one of the coolest video game systems I have ever owned...

I had my psp for about two weeks and really consider it the best thing next to my nintendo ds lite. I been playing my psp alot and wonder why I never got one earlier. The upcoming games for the system look cool like god of war, final fantasy 7, gran turismo, castlevania.

I have a PSP and a DS. While the DS has so many more highly rated games, I have a ton more fun with the PSP. Despite the lackluster battery life, I really enjoy playing games more on the PSP than the DS. I think it mostly has to do with the fact that the DS screens are soooo small... I'll take low battery life if it means I can have an awesome display.

I know DS is selling more and has more highly rated games, but if I had to choose the real winner of this handheld generation, it would be the PSP. Nothing against the DS... like I said, I have it and really like it... I just like the PSP more.

The PSP is a great console with great games and i like to play games especially when its for yourself and when it comes to personalizing it, its the best handheld console ever. I'll play it as long as the sun and the moon dies!!!

the truth is that there is no reason to compare the DS to the PSP, they have very different styles and are marketed towards different age groups

i like the PSP games generaly more. the PSP gets console games...seriously the PSP doesnt think its a handheld.

God of War

Daxter

Socom

Kingdom Hearts (appears to play just like the ps2 versions)

disgaea

Tactics

etc.

DS acts more like a handheld with games ment to be played for just a little while, such as a couple hour drive. thats my opinion at least.

Exactly how i feel now. I got my PSP a year ago and already have 15 games (5 for DS which i got 2 years ago) and use the multimedia features ALOT. I have barely touched my DS since i got my PSP (no pun intended :P ), and have gotten no more games for it, though a couple looked good but I always found a PSP game i wanted more.

Cool, I am planning to get a PSP next week. Posts like these make me want it more, though to be honest, all these 5.0-6.0 game ratings for it are kind of a let down, but then again IGN says most of them are 9.0 (such as Monster Hunter Freedom 2 being a 5.0 here, and 8.3 or something at IGN). But like you, I am thinking I am going to like the PSP a LOT more than the DS, which I haven't played for about two years. I like the DS, but I'm just tired of all the games that turn out just to be a series of touch-oriented minigames. Anyways, I'm hoping to have a lot of fun when I get my PSP as well :).

I recently bought the new PSP. I have a Wii, 360, PS2 and a DS. I was never interested in the PSP because it was so expensive to get the system, memory card, and games. Now that they have the Daxter package it was an excellent decision. I very much enjoy it. Its not better than a DS, and the DS is not better than it. Its a completely different experience. But 've got to say, I'm very happy with the new PSP's price point, package and with the PSP technology in general. Glad Sony got it right.
