what i did was cut out the exaust cages for all 3 exaust ports and made a CD size hole on the bottom of the PS3 for the intake. now my ps3 exaust warm air instade of really hot air, sometimes cool air. here is some pics. MOK5you mutulated your ps3? i hope youre joking
i have a extra body just in case it happens (i fix ps3, and have a bundence of parts). and i have 3 ps3, so i can afford to do so. the next experiment i am trying out is putting a ps3's hardware in a nice led pc case with liquid cooling.MOK5why not just put liquid cooling in the original ps3 case?
i think you shoud have to enter the thunderdome for harming a defensless ps3 :( i like the george forman grill on my ps3 the way it i
In theory what he did was genius, just executed poorly.
Now you have to add rubber grommeting and custom dust filters.
[QUOTE="Eazy1891"][QUOTE="lucasc130"]OMG, I'm struggling to buy my PS3 and you are cuting your up.MOK5
yeah and it looks like crap to....dont mean to hate on you but it is true
well my industrale press wasnt working at the timeYou don't need an industrial press to make a clean cut.. Use a dremel to flatten out what you have so far and then melt the rough edges for a split second with a butane lighter.. Cheap simple and relatively efficient.

i did use a dremel, since sony uses crappy plastic its hard to cut/grind big holes. to get the cleannest cut a press cutter is the best and cleanest way. any ways im putting thing black weather stripping around the edges since everybody is complaining.i have a extra body just in case it happens (i fix ps3, and have a bundence of parts). and i have 3 ps3, so i can afford to do so. the next experiment i am trying out is putting a ps3's hardware in a nice led pc case with liquid cooling.MOK5
Forget liquid cooling, go with mineral oil submersion, much cooler IMO. Plus you get bubbles!

that is true i was considering it at first. but then again i wanted a nice computer led case. with a mineral oil case it wouldnt look as nice.[QUOTE="MOK5"]i have a extra body just in case it happens (i fix ps3, and have a bundence of parts). and i have 3 ps3, so i can afford to do so. the next experiment i am trying out is putting a ps3's hardware in a nice led pc case with liquid cooling.PvtGump8

lol just ordered the parts to set my PC up like that, gonna be getting a new PC with my bonus at christmas i may as well experiment with this one a bit.you see when you have the puss 3 you got take care of the puss or else your gonna lose the puss and i like to own and have the puss so i might consider this even if the puss looks funny also it is quite pricy for the puss nowadays so i'll have to think about if i want to upgrade or downgrade to a grade thats better than my current gradings? but i will think about it.
that is true PS3's have a better airflow then most systems, but they do get dusty the most because of the insaficiant air intake. the reason i thought and done this is because i was tired of hot air coming out of my ps3 (plus its in a confined space) and to have a better way of cleaning the dust out with out taking it apart. ive noticed now when i have done this no hot air comes out of my ps3 only cool or warm air, if your electronics stay cooler then they should last longer right.Seriously, coolers ARE NOT NEEDED for PS3s. People just need to TAKE BETTER CARE of their system.

If you need to mod your ps3 for cooling reasons then you are doing it wrong.
Ive owned virtually every system ever made and Ive never had an over heating issue, ever and my fat ps3 still runs like a champ.
Dust the damn thing and blow the vents out occasionally so you dont get dust build up, dont put the damned thing inside a cabinet or a media shelf where air gets cut off or it just recyles its own hot air and so on.
All of you acting like it's the end of the world because he butchered his ps3, it's not like it's a $5,000 custom built PC. It never even went for a $1,000, unless you're one of the idiots who paid $1,500 on ebay for one of them when they first came out. The persons saying that your ps3 doesn't get hot probably don't play the most stressful games on it. My house is at 73 degrees Fahrenheit with the my ps3 in an open area and it puts out hotter air playing diablo 3 off of an SSD than my OC'd gaming pc does running benchmarks. It's common sense that cooler is better in terms of electronics, something that wouldn't really hurt for the ps3.
It doesn't even look that bad, wtf. And it's in areas you won't even notice most of the time...
