Two mains points that most people on the PS3 seem to be having trouble grasping...

1. Join a squad!!!!! This isn't CoD, you actually need to work as a team to win and there is no easier way than to simply join a squad. It just takes a second and it has many benefits (points modifiers to level faster, spawning on squadmates, etc etc)

2. 'Spot' enemy units!! Just put an enemy unit/vehicle in your crosshair and hit Select. Its that easy. The enemy will be marked with an orange dot over their heads and on the minimap for a few seconds. If anyone kills them during this time, you get a points bonus for spotting them. Its easy and makes team work much more effecitve. Do it always.

playing in a squad is fantastic! I played a lot the demo with people of other forum.

other thing:

BUY A HEADSET

It makes playing in a squad much easier.

I play on the 360, but I have made it a habit to spot an enemy before I start to shoot, even if we are the only two in a room. Its good strategy if he turns and runs and you lose sight of him, so it gives you an idea of where he went.

When you see an enemy, you press the back button(at least that's what you do on the 360 version). And if you are in a squad, and your team kills the enemy's that you spotted, you get double points opposed to not being in a squad and one of your team mates kills the one you spotted.

Spotting enemies is something you do in regular games, none HC. When you see an enemy you press the select button and a tiny dot will appear over their heads for you teams to see. If you are a sniper and have a spot scope it will automatically spot them for your team when you see them. I would like to also add a few things.

  • Please don't blow up your own bases
  • Don't try to fly the UAV into enemies, turn on the Alt fire spec and go at them that way
  • Don't fly the helicopter straight into the ground.
  • If you can't fly the copter, don't fly it. I can't fly worth damn so I just man the gun
  • When a medic revives you please don't run off into the middle of a group of guys only to die again
  • If you have a mic don't just mumble commands, SAY them
  • If you can't snipe don't snipe
  • If you are a sniper please throw motion mines, they do help and you get points.
  • If you are Assualt please give ammo
  • If you are an engineer please spot out the enemy vehicles and actually do something about it, remember the back is the weakest spot of the tank. Also lay AT mines if you have them.
  • If you are a sniper don't waste motar strike wait for the perfect moment to use them. Say when someone plants the charge and a bunch of guys run into defuse it.
  • If you are a medic always drop health packs for people, revive when you can and if the coast is clear
  • DO NOT spawn camp. Seriously I see people take off for the attackers base as soon as the game starts leaving me all by myself at our base trying to defend it.

That is my contribution to this thread.

I agree with almost everything that you said, but I disagree when you say: if you don't know this, don't do it. I think that when you don't know something you have to improve it playing.;)

No cause I am sick and tired of snipers who would probably be better off doing something else. They sit way back doing nothing. I can see what you mean about the helicopter flying thing though. I meant people who will get in it and fly it straight to the ground at the enemy base.

If you aim on an enemy and press select it will place a little marker on him. It's kind of like telling everyone on your team "Hey there's an enemy over there behind the tree"

It's useful to do to snipers in the distance if you aren't sniping because the snipers on your team will then be able to see him and him him. It's also good to do to ATVs, Tanks, etc

Why would you take the time and effort to "spot" them when you can just go and shoot them? That's the purpose anyway.

Cause you wont be able to take down a tank by yourself easily, and I spot infantry when I'm reloading (which takes a while being that I'm a medic) so someone else can take them down. The whole point of spotting is communicate with your entire team easily.

Well, if it's far away, but these are too much to remember. If the guy is right there, I'd rather just frag him than spot him and wait for someone else to do it. I guess if it's a tank that takes more to blow up, yeah, but sometimes something like that takes a while and when you spend the time doing it, then you get shot and lose out.

OK, I just don't care to do it. That may be a good strategy, but there's more than one good strategy that people can follow. It's not like there is only "one path through the woods." Trying to spot things would mess up how I did things.

You don't have to do it all the time, especially when someone is close and you can take him down pretty quickly, but doing it really helps your team in some situations. When you reload your gun, you have plenty of time to spot enemies. I do it real quick.

I spot almost every enemy i kill and spot everyone that i can't kill.. that way they don't sneak up on my team as easily and anyone whos camping in the area can take them out... honestly i don't think half the people in BFBC2 know about the spot ability.. its just so simple, and snipers, don't be greedy! you can get a hell of alot of points just spotting people instead of missing over and over again because you don't know how to account for travel time! there should be like a massive tutorial for the MP so we can get all the nubs up to snuff..

My tips!

  • If you are not an engineer or a recon, DO NOT PURSUE ENEMY TANKS.
  • If you are an engineer, and you see an enemy tanks, take it out from a distance with a rocket launcher.
  • Recons, don't just snipe. If you're close to a tank, put C4 on it, call a motor strike on any enemy that isn't moving, especially large groups and tanks, also, use your motion sensor and also spot enemies from long range through the scope.
  • When flying the helicopter, fly slowly by enemies, giving your machine gunners a chance to gun down enemies from below.
  • Know the strengths of each vehicles. Quads are meant for quick transportation while tanks are for killing power
  • Medics, heal your teammates when they need. Also revive them when you are near the bomb site or you need to arm/diffuse it.
  • Assaults, give your team ammo, try to fire from medium range, and your launch for your tactical advantage.
  • Engineers, repair EVERY friendly vehicle.
  • Also Engineers, fire single-shot bursts from medium or long range while using your SMG.
  • Sometimes, using destruction 2.0 is better than arming the bomb in rush. (cough Arica Harbor cough first A cough)
  • When you're in a four man squad starting a game attacking on rush, have you and one other squad-mate be a medic and hop on a quad. Rush to a bomb site very quickly and arm it. Have your other two squad-mates spawn by you (or the other guy) and have them be medics. Congrats, you have 4 team-mates defending a position all ready to be revived if needed.
  • Recons, aim higher while sniping from a distance, gravity is taken into account from long range.
  • Work as a team/squad
  • Use the UAV to spot enemies.
  • UAVs can be repaired.
  • The Alt. fire spec is excellent for UAVs and other vehicles
  • Assaults, do not take the extra ammo spec. You may resupply yourself with ammo

Well, those are my tips! :D

Also not really a "pro tip" to take in game screen captures, say you find a dead body in a funny position, press the select button then the start button. A message will pop up saying that the screen capture was saved. You can view these on the my soldier page on the BC2 site.

I do admit to being guilty of a couple of these.

LOL

I can't snipe for **** but i am doing it for the recon Kit trophy. once i'm done, it's back to assault or medic.

I also try to fly the UAV into people, but again, only for trophies (i want the airkill) and if someone has a better way of doing it, i am open to suggestions.

But i also can't fly the helicopter for crap, so i don't bother, it's a waste of a perfectly good chopper!

I love squad play though, but i fele i should add, if your squad has 4 camping snipers, PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHANGE.

there is no point in spawning on a squadmate if they are hanging around the bloody spawn points!

I have noticed an influx of CD like players in this game as of late, It was awesome when it first came out. But now its in danger of being ruined.

People seem to care more about thier K/D and getting points rather than taking or protecting the objective during a rush game.

And only ever play squad DM with friends its for your own good.

tlutz12

Cannot agree with you more on 2, spotting helps your teammates and you as you get some points if you aren't able to deliver the final blow and the dude you were shooting at.

As for 1 I disagree really, even if you're not in squad but communicating well I think you will be a major asset to your team, teamwork is definitely very crucial in the game but you can still participate without being in a squad.

I have noticed an influx of CD like players in this game as of late, It was awesome when it first came out. But now its in danger of being ruined.

People seem to care more about thier K/D and getting points rather than taking or protecting the objective during a rush game.

And only ever play squad DM with friends its for your own good.

YES. Squad death-match is horrible with random people. I find that conquest is a little more tactical. People are killing like crazy but still trying to control and defend objectives.

Also, everyone needs to stop sniping. That is the main stratagy in BF2. And it ruins the fun.

It is fine in moderation, but seeing 85% of the damn players sniper is not cool.

Cannot agree with you more on 2, spotting helps your teammates and you as you get some points if you aren't able to deliver the final blow and the dude you were shooting at.

As for 1 I disagree really, even if you're not in squad but communicating well I think you will be a major asset to your team, teamwork is definitely very crucial in the game but you can still participate without being in a squad.

you can only communicate with members of your squad......so if you want to do it effectively i'd suggest joining one. otherwise you're just mumbling to yourself.

Yeah it is starting to push on my last damn nerves. I can't believe how dumb some people are in this game.
