1. Ah right, we do have some real world systems there. Wood will break and bullets then pass through, same goes for glass, but not so much 'passing through'. That is hard to explain in a first person shooter when you are the person getting shot at and can be quite frustrating for the guy at the receiving end if he can't see where his assailant is shooting from. So you could call it a design decision. 2. If you are close to dying the screen will go grey, blurred and your hearing muffled. Seb Downie - QA Manager - Guerrilla Games

Also he said that the movies are real time which is from the game not a cutscene which is animation

It mean that cutscenes are not pre-rendered. They are real time cutscenes, which means the ps3 is making those graphics right on the spot and not playing a video that was made by a supercomputer. Basically, they are in real-time like the gameplay.

Good, not a fan of cutscenes specially now that technology's come so far there's little difference between CGI and gameplay.

Is this in any form special? Most of the Games out now are made that way because the PS3 has enough power that it doesn't need to be pre-rendered :/

Thats real-time you should see the videos on youtube of some of those cut-scenes from the preview built of the game. I love how it goes into and out of the cut scenes seamlessly.

MGS4 the first game to use real-time cutscenes? Erm, no. MGS4 didn't even have Real-time cutscenes, Oblivion and Assassin's Creed , and probably others I can't recall, had them. And interactive cutscenes like in MGS4 aren't new either, Resident Evil 4 had them too.

That video is CGI. As much as I want it, the PS3 can not render that fine details. Sorry.

You guys are mixing definitions. Xefiroderc is referring to "real-time" as happening within the action of the game, like being able to move your character when the story is happening. You are referring to a non-playable movie using the in-game assets.

Maybe I'm getting confused. By real-time do they mean being able to look/move around as things happen like in the I previously mentioned games or rendered from the game engine or cutscenes with some degree of interactivity?

Not really a CUT-SCENE if you can move around and about or going here and there is it? I'm thinking they are meaning real time in engine cutscenes, which mgs4 had along with interactive cut scenes

When people say "real-time" they are only taking about how the image is rendered and not about any interactivity(looking around, moving etc.).

Real time means that its using the in-game engine for the cutscenes (regardless of whether you can interact with them or not). The cutscene is not a video created beforehand using a video program, but is in-fact coded to use the game engine to produce a video like result.

i already knew this, i saw a demonstration on TV where just before the cutscene he fired a rocket, and during the cutscene it animated the rocket fully... the guy nearly shot down the transport that was in the cutscene...although i doubt that this would happen.

I can tell that intro movie is in real-time, it looks really good but it definitely isnt prerendered CGI quality. Plus i dont think the developers want to mess around with anymore prerendered stuff, with the all the BS they got last time.

Thats because the only video's we're seeing for the intro are CAM's not direct feeds from video out's. It may be real-time, but I'll have a hard time believing it. And if it really is real time: good for GG, its a testament to how far they've come, cause I think the intro looks better than the 05 trailer. But then again I'd expect 08 CGI to trump 05 CGI.

REAL TIME: you know in SOME GTA San Andreas cutscenes you can experience pedrestians bumping into you etc while the cutscene is playing? thats real time. its cause the world around you is still streaming.. i dont really consider it all that positive, IMO. therell be alot of bugs durng those scenes, most likely.

Even if the graphics at real-time or not, they sure as hell are good. When I first saw the video I thought it was definately pre-redered but now I've got faith... but this game IS going to be awesome. Not too long and we'll have it for ourselves! I sure hope it doesn't flop like Haze did, but I actually highly doubt that it will. Man I love my Ps3!

The intro is CG with in game assets, it's not how the game looks while you are playing it. It still looks amazing of course, just not as good as the intro.

So realtime means, every cutscenes never replay the same if i play it twice or three times? they'd act differently? i still dont get it.

Real time is basically the graphics you see when you're in gameplay, playing the game. Things such as explosions, lighting, and smoke effects are rendered by the game's engine.

Pre-rendered is basically the developer scripting everything on screen to happen a certain way, as well as the way things look.

With these custscenes, though, they're scripted to happen in the way that you see them, but the game's engine is doing all the graphics processing.

The impressive thing is that Guerilla Games is able to make it look pre-rendered, which is easy compared to real-time.

Real-time is basically using the games engine to render a cut-scene, not using pre-made video Ex: CGI.

If you guys seriously don't believe Guerilla did their job, you guys are not giving credit where credit is due.

An that sucks considering they spent 60 million dollars and 5 years doing this......

So your telling me this, is real time? I highly doubt thatthelastguy
As do I, there are certain aspects when you really analyze that trailer that just seem sub CGI level, but for the most part looks CGI. After watching the trailers and the little sequence of things on Qore (episode 8 which features KZ2). I'm actually intrigued to find out what the music in the game will be like, a lot of the trailers have really good music and this section in the Qore has this music at the end of a video which sounded phenominal. I really think the music in this game is gonna be one of the lesser appreciated gems.
