they need to hurry up kill the PS2 all it gets anymore is sports game
the fact that they took the BC out of PS3 is bullcrap
I used to have a PS2 but sold it so I could buy a 360. I later bought a PS3 and just recently I bought a PS2 again to play the classics, games I missed, and gamed I wasn't allowed to play. I am happy for this but also really mad that I just paid $120 for a PS2.
$120 for a PS2? Why did it cost so much, at Gamestop it is $60 and on ebay you can find some cheap ones for $35I used to have a PS2 but sold it so I could buy a 360. Yeah, sorry if it's old news, I looked several pages back and didn't see anything, so I thought I'd post and inform those who haven't seen it yet.MarfooDont worry about it. Some people like to Shoot off about "old news", often even when its less than a day old lol.it makes them feel like they are on the cutting edge and "plugged in" heh. That or they do not understand that some people actually have a life and do not spend every second on game related web sites :p But any way that is great to hear. hopefully it will pan out. personly it does not effect me much as there is not a lot on the ps2 that i care to play again much less pay for again if they only allow it as a down load only thing like the Wii's VC. But at any rate it will just be one more + for ps3 users. PS. OLD NEWS!!!!!! get with the times man LMFAO ;)
The first game they need to release on the store is Ico if such an idea ever comes to fruition.

The first feature to come with PS2 games being put for DL on PSN is being able to tranfer your games to a PSP. OMG, I would have a love affair with my PSP if I could play FFX, SotC, and KH on the go.

how could you play them on the PSP? a lot of the games require the second analog to control the camera. Here's to hoping it's true.
Advertising a system as backward compatable then discontinuing the ones that are is like a punch in the gut.
I know I missed several gems on the ps2 (FF X, MGS 2 and 3, and God of War to name a few)
[QUOTE="reaver-x"]if this is true, then it will be the first thing sony has done right this genErik729
Oh look, everybody! The stupidest statement of the week!
And Erik just made awesome comment of the weak![QUOTE="eo_the_shaman"]
well if it is true then we can look forward to PS2 games on PSN

Yes, 4GB downloads!!!
lol you make one of the funniest comments ive seen in this forum xDOnly the Japanese/American 20GB and 60GB models had the Emotion Engine. The original 80GB as well as all the European models were already emulating it.
The real issue is the Graphics Synthesizer... the PS2's GPU. This has always been physical. Even on the models that emulated the EE. The current models do not possess this chip. And the patent makes no mention of it. In fact it is likely just referring to the emulation in the aforementioned models (it's not unprecedented for a company to file for a patent after the fact).
Take a look here, the original PS3s had the emotion engine inside so it could run PS2 games, they took it out to save money as many of you know. It looks like Sony has been working on software emulation to enable backwards compatibility on all PS3s. Here is the article. LINK.Marfoo
I didn't know this. Thanks for the heads up and the link.

That's exactly what I think. This is a old very old news back before the EE chip was removed from the NTSC PS3's and they started using the emulator for the GPU (Graphics Synthesizer) in the EU models and the 80 gig models.Yea, my ps2 is on its last leg to. Everytime I play a game on my ps2, I ask my self "is this going to be the time my ps2 dies on me?"I hope it is true so i don't have to worry about my 8 year old Ps2 dying on my. if it does i will give it a proper burial.

I hope they go through with this because I don't have room for both a ps2 and a ps3(and a 360 and a wii).
I bought a 100 dollar ps3, just so that i could replay all the MGS's, suprsingly, it is completely worth it!
How the hell do you download it??????????????migitgem2009There isn't any software to make a PS3 that doesn't support PS2 games play the games. There is a download patch for the PS3's that had the support that allowed certain games to be played online. The current PS3's have all the needed hardware removed to support PS2 games.
