PSVita LinkPSVita

Until further notice from Sony Playstation.

PSVita Link

PSVita Amazon

PSVita psvita channel

1. The handheld includes two analog sticks, a 5-inch OLED multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, and supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G (the latter is included only in the 3G version of the console). Internally, the Vita features a 4 core ARM Cortex-A9 core processor and a 4 core SGX543MP4+ graphics processing unit, as well as LiveArea as its main user interface, which succeeds the XrossMediaBar.

2. The device also features a rear touch pad, a front camera, a rear camera, stereo speakers, microphone, Sixaxis motion sensing system (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer), three-axis electronic compass, built-in GPS as well as Wi-Fi, 3G, and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity. The two cameras feature the abilities of face detection, head detection, and head tracking. It also allows for customization and personalization.

3. The PlayStation Vita will be released as two different versions: one with 3G support, and a cheaper version without 3G support. The more expensive 3G-version will also come pre-loaded with some special applications that take advantage of 3G's "always-on" capabilities, such as augmented reality software.[The 3G service will be partnered with AT&T in the US.

4. Unlike the PSP, the PlayStation Vita will not support video output or contain a removable battery. PS Vita is equipped with the storage media slot in addition to the new game medium slot, so that users can choose what memory capacity they want to utilize depending on their use.

5. Software for the PlayStation Vita will be distributed on Vita Cards, a new proprietary flash card format, rather than on Universal Media Discs (UMDs) used by the original PlayStation Portable. Vita game cards will be available in 2GB and 4GB sizes. 5-10% of the writeable space will be reserved for save data, patches, etc.Higher-capacity game cards are planned to be made available for future releases.

6. Unlike the first PSP, the PlayStation Vita will come with Trophy

7. The device will also support backwards compatible PlayStation Portable downloadable titles, PlayStation minis, PlayStation Suite games, PSOne ****cs, videos, and comics from the PlayStation Store.

Thanks for posting this, I didn't know most of the specs of it. I'm still debating to hold off on getting this or get this when it first comes out.

The specs is what got me sold for the PS Vita cant wait for launch day and I pray that Bioware is working on a PS Vita version of Mass Effect 3 with Interactive comics of both ME1 and ME2 for our character backgrounds imagine ME3 on the go that would be freaking awesome! =D

Not to be a buzzkill, but Mass Effect 3 won't fit on the 2-4GB cards that are going to be available at launch. We'll have to wait for at least an 8GB card to come along, probably even a 16GB cartridge for this game. But I agree, Mass Effect on the go would be pretty impressive.

Can be multi-card though. Like half the titles on Xbox 360. Also, according to Wikipedia, higher capacity cartridges will be released in the future:

considering that you can get sd cards in 16gb there is no reason the capacity cant be improved for the game sticks.

I think the PS3 has 3.2 GHz and I know that monster blows some hot wind out. With that in mind it will probably as stated be below 2 GHz. Unless I completely misunderstand it.?

I can't seem to find the link now, but I read somewhere that the CPU will be running at 800Mhz. I was just looking and can't seem to find this info again, so don't qoute me on it. I also read that whole fire in your pants part in a interview somewhere and laughed.

@AmazonTreeBoa. I think that you read somewhere that ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore CPU is clocked from 800MHz but it will probably be 400MHZ maxed out on Vita... Until !!!!!!

333Mhz is maxed and standard on the PSP now I think ??? Or am I wrong,,,

@riou7 I think that is only half of the announced games....

EDIT....

LOL ;o) --- this thing is probaly stronger than my laptop CPU ( actually I have no doubt it is )

ARM Cortex-A9 MPCore 800 MHz to 2000 MHz

Intel Atom n280 600 MHz to 2.13 GHz

True, but it's not the only factor. Also on how many nm (=nanometer) it's produced and stuff like that. Though 2 ghz would indeed be too much and get to hot.

800 mHz could be right, as someone mentioned above.

Dunno about nanometer. That is way over my head :-P yeah 800mHz might be right, and that is underclocked right ? Or is it underclocked when it is below the range of 800mHz to 2000mHz ?

I guess it's underclocked. Maybe we'll see some games that unlock the processor, could be cool, though you'r hand will get burned....

Yeah I use wiki all the time, but that tells me nothing about the Vita's CPU clock speed. I have already read up on the A9. Guess we will just have to play the waiting game to get the exact specs of the Vita's CPU.

I'd believe that coz graphics are quite good...

But still... I think its to much for that little handheld...

It doesn't just work like that. 4x 800mHz is usually not as good as a single core 3.2 gHz.

The single core would be able to do 1 thing at a time better than the 4 core. But the 4 core would be able to open up various other programs similtaniously, but they will be slower.

It's also possible to have 2 cores at a higher clock rate, and 2 at a lower clock rate. With this you will still have decent performance, but also multi tasking.

What i'm trying to say, the amount of Herz isn't everything. Like I said before, it's also about the nanometer it's produced on (less nm = less heath + better performance) and usage of pipelines (multitasking) and stuff like that.

BTW: a good processor doesn't cause graphics to be good. It's important, but the graphics is majorly dependent on the GPU. Fail GPU + uber epic processor = bad graphics. Uber GPU + fail processor = also bad graphics.

You've got to look at the total picture.

Those are memory cards, not the game cards. The games are stored on a game card. Ofcourse more space is nice, but i doubt you'll need it. Gamesaves, DLC and stuff like that all gets stored on the game card.

Movies on the OLED screen with that resolution will be nice i think, that's going to take up quite some space i think.

Thinking of it, games bought online will be stored on the memory cards....

I'm afraid this proprietary memory card will be very expensive, just like the Memory Card Duo (PSP).

LOL :-D if that is your argument then I doubt you really wanted the Vita to begin with. But to answer you question. No video output because with its powers it would be in direct competition with the PS3. The battery will be embedded probably because of piracy. If it fries I am sure Sony will provide you with a solution. Haven't seen a fried x10 mini yet.

Still waiting to find out the final RAM ammount. Clearly clock speeds had to be chosen based on optimal battery life. Too bad they haven't released the battery specs either.

Maybe if you're playing on a SD screen. But not on an HD screen, the Vita is not nearly as powerfull as the PS3, it just almost provides the same graphics, which it can because of the lower resolution.

Look: 960 x 544 = 522240 pixels (Vita).

1920 x 1080 = 2073600 pixels (PS3)

The PS3 has about 4x more pixels to produce. Because of that the Vita can (almost) have the same graphics as the PS3, but it's not nearly as powerfull.

So the Vita games won't look as good as your PS3 games on a HD tv at all.

Yeah i know battery and RAm are what concerns me most, especially since there is that rumour the RAM was reduced to save money, also since the battery is not removeable i don't think it'll be embedded onto the motherboard, it'll just not be accessible like the PSP i think we can all agree that it'll only require maybe a bit of prying to pop off the case and the battery will be sitting there ready to be replaced by a third party one from ebay if it does fail.

When reading about android tablets I found this information Frequency 800mHz ARM cortex A9 processor RAM: DDR2 512MB. Now what I am thinking of , is whether Vita emulates the PSP or if some of the hardware is similar ?
